Diverse and exotic?[edit]

Surely Applebee's, Burger King, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Hardee's and KFC don't constitute the title "diverse and exotic restaurants", this article needs a rewrite: It reads like a travel brochure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.205.33.180 (talk) 12:48, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Like a terrible travel brochure. 24.149.202.98 (talk) 16:26, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Established 1923[edit]

Al Khobar was established since 1923 when the Al Dossary tribe from Bahrain were given permission by King Abdul Aziz to settle in Al Khobar from Bahrain. At that time it was a fishing village of few hut type houses only. After the resumption of oil activities by Aramco in Dhahran after WWII since 1945, Al Khobar being its satellite town only at a distance of 8km from it & its port to Bahrain by boat (in those days most of the travel was by sea, later on the Dhahran airport was devloped), flourished & expanded as the people of Al Khobar went into businesses to support the oil activities of Aramco & the needs of its working community in Dhahran for shopping. Coordinate error[edit]

The coordinates need the following fixes:

  • I'm not sure of the coordinates are inaccurate or if the algorithm for locating the city on the blank map of Saudi Arabia is incorrect, but the article on Dammam reports Khobar to be a neighboring city, and Dammam is located on the opposite end of the Arabian peninsula (east end), whereas, this map shows Khobar to be located on the western end.

Irrelevant details[edit]

The article contains many irrelevant details about related subjects, such as the size of the metropolitan area and the greater metropolitan area, both of which are named for and associated with Dammam rather than Khobar. See for example this diff. I'm cleaning them up. Please {{ ping}} me to discuss. --Thnidu (talk) 18:01, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
