Neutral Point of View[edit]

It feels as though this article does not follow WP:NPOV and seems that it may have been written by an employee/owner of the resort. While much of the information is good and accurate, I think a lot of sentences need to be revised so as not to seem like this page is here to "sell the resort" to potential guests. Some examples:

"The resort is anchored by The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, a Forbes Five Star/AAA Five Diamond 255-room luxury hotel and spa. To provide ultimate lodging flexibility for families and groups, the resort also manages nearly 500 private villas and luxury homes ranging from one- to eight-bedroom."

"Within steps of The Sanctuary, the Roy Barth Tennis Center features 22 courts, and is home to the Barth-Hawtin Tennis Academy"

"With more than a dozen distinctive restaurants ranging from refined white tablecloth multi-course culinary experiences to poolside cantinas, Kiawah Island chefs take full advantage of the ingredients provided by neighboring farms and fisheries."

There are other examples in the article, I want to bring this up for discussion before I make any changes. I do not plan to remove any information, but I would like to make many of these sentences more neutral to seem like less of a sales-pitch. N75746 (talk) 17:41, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I've removed a lot of this and moved the pertinent detail (what little there was) into the lead. wjematherplease leave a message... 19:04, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Wjemather Appreciate your quick response and edits, looks a lot better to me. I am local to the area and actually overheard an employee telling guests to look at the wikipedia page to learn more about the resort. Made me curious and after seeing it I was convinced someone internal to the company made it an online ad. I changed the first line a bit to reflect the land it's built on, and removed that "anchored" statement about the spa. N75746 (talk) 02:44, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Course Rating Updates / NPOV[edit]

Coming back to this article I notice the course and slop ratings are out of date, I have updated them in the sidebar as well as in the article. Having just played these courses recently I was able to verify the cards against the National Course Rating Database. I also found that all the information listed in the "Tournaments Held" section was listed again above in the ocean course main section, so I removed that paragraph. I also recently took a pano pic of the 18th green and added that. Lastly, I used the most recent 2020 scorecard (see picture) to update the card. This includes adding missing tees, correcting tee colors, and correcting yardages.

Ocean Course scorecard as it was in November of 2020

I also noticed more WP:NPOV issues in the "Expansion" section below:

"Beginning spring 2018, Kiawah Island Golf Resort launched a three-year development that includes a new clubhouse at Cougar Point Golf Course, a non-denominational chapel at The Sanctuary, the West Beach Village Conference Center, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, offering more than 23,000 square feet of pre-event and state-of-the-art meeting space, a new villa check-in facility in West Beach, four two-story, four-bedroom vacation cottages just steps from The Ocean Course Clubhouse with commanding views of this iconic golf course, and a complete renovation of Night Heron Park to double the existing program space of the Nature Center as well as a new activities pavilion, art center, fitness center and dining outlet."

I will remove most of this section N75746 (talk) 19:43, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
