Notability tag[edit]

I removed the notability tag. This person appears to be a sufficiently notable performer. He has almost pioneered an original genre of music and performance and received notice for it. If there is disagreement then please take this article to AfD. Regards. ----Steve Quinn (talk) 16:32, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

73.90.99.188 recently added Category:Australian male singers, Category:LGBT musicians from Australia, and Category:Gay musicians to this article. This was then reverted by User:Steve Quinn with the edit summary "Suspect edit - character smear without references or sources." (Aside: I don't understand how categorising someone as Australian or male or LGBT can amount to a character smear.) The article states with a reputable source that Smith married the tenor William Ferguson in 2010, so how can adding those categories be considered suspect and a smear without sources? I then reinstated those categories and provided another reputable source calling Smith "openly gay"; this was again reverted by Steve Quinn. Those categories ought to be restored. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 08:20, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Bednare --- OK I see where the source says that. Sorry I missed it. Also, the NYT article pretty much indicates the same. I am going to revert myself.--- Steve Quinn (talk) 09:18, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
