Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because the calendar is probably the most prestigious modelling assignment in India and the models who have featured on the calendar have turned into supermodels and Bollywood actresses. The calendar is very notable. Please read references #1 to #7 of the article. A google search on "Kingfisher Calendar" yields 7.6 million results. It certainly deserves a place on Wikipedia. In case the article is deemed promotional, then IMO Pirelli calendar should also be removed from Wikipedia. --Tinpisa (talk) 17:27, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A google search on "Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar" gives over a million results. Does the writing style of the article have a biased POV or does it promote a product? Have tried to keep a NPOV, but would like a feedback. Thanks. --Tinpisa (talk) 17:43, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It seems I was incorrect to nominate the article under CSD. My sincere apologies, Tinpasa. Archaios (talk) 18:21, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

I removed the sources I removed because they're redundant or don't verify anything. Why do sources need to be repeated for one sentence/claim? And why does that same sentence need generic links to the yearly editions? If they're not verifying anything, I can't see why they're being used as references.  Mbinebri  talk ← 15:01, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My good friend, if only you had taken a minute to read the second sentence of Ref#1, which I quote below:

It's a plum modelling assignment, arguably the most prestigious in India ...

Yet, you inserted a {{cn}} tag after The calendar is considered as the most prestigious modelling assignment in India.
Similarly, Ref#2 states:

Models, who have featured in the calendar, list it as a premium achievement in their resumes and have seen a host of career opportunities open for them as a result.

Ref#5 states:

Girls, who have featured in the calendar, list it as a premium achievement in their resumes and have seen a host of career opportunities open for them. "After a decade-long association with the Kingfisher Calendar, I feel this is the biggest platform in India for models to get noticed and foray into different careers thereafter," ace photographer Atul Kasbekar said.

You have inserted a {{cn}} tag after Appearance on the calendar has become a mark of distinction for those photographic models that are chosen. What can I say when a person with over 14000 edits on Wikipedia inserts {{cn}} tags, after deliberately removing sources from an article that was created with painstaking efforts, just since they are not appropriate in his opinion. Every fact in the article was based on reliable sources, and every source added verified something that the other sources didn't. As per norm, in a small article, all the references were added in the end of the paragraph.
Again for merging articles, the usual practice is to add a {{merge|OTHERPAGE|discuss=Talk:THIS PAGE#Merger proposal|date=February 2012}} tag to the said article. Instead, I find a strange method of nominating an article for deletion as you would like to merge it to some other article. Nominations for deletion are usually meant to discuss deletion and not mergers. Thanks. Tinpisa (talk) 17:06, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Eytmology[edit]

Where does the name come from? This needs to be explained.Curb Chain (talk) 06:21, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The UB Group runs two airlines and produces beer under the Kingfisher brandname. This could be one reason, but there are no RS for it. Tinpisa (talk) 09:05, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
