Introduction and infobox[edit]

Rsloch would like to expand the introduction and simplify the infobox; see User talk:Rsloch/Archives/2013/July#Kingham railway station. Opinions anybody? --Redrose64 (talk) 21:21, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking of adding 'The station was opened as Chipping Norton Junction on 10 August 1855, and renamed Kingham on 1 May 1909' to the introduction, and simplifying the infobox to 'Station opened', 'station name changed', etc. Rsloch (talk) 22:15, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The introduction could be beefed up slightly in accordance with Wikipedia:Lead section, and I wonder whether both pre and post grouping mentions of the GWR in the infobox are necessary. Also, the opening date features twice in different sections both marked "history". That said, I would leave the rest of infobox as is, adding perhaps the goods closure date. This discussion does highlight the limitations of the infobox template as currently designed; ideally the operating history and chronology should be separate sections. Unfortunately, I don't have a clue how to change this. Lamberhurst (talk) 23:20, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the introduction should refer to the original name of Chipping Norton Junction. Not sure if the introduction needs precise dates, perhaps just the years since the full dates are given elsewhere in the article. It could include the facts that (a)it was not one of the original stations on the line (b)it was originally opened to provide a junction for the Chipping Norton Branch (c)it was proposed for closure in the 1960s but reprieved.
