minor discrepancies[edit]

Apparently sources disagree about the name of the place, year built, and architectural style. This is not really a problem. Any serious discrepancies should be described in the article. Like for the name, show it under one name but give the NRHP name for site as title of the NRHP infobox, and as a bolded alternative in text: done. About the others, one source (which?) apparently gives it as built in 1889 with rare "Flemish Renaissance Revival" style. That sounds interesting. If there is not yet a wikipedia article on Flemish Renaissance Revival, perhaps one should be created. If there is one, a link to this Knickerbocker Building ought to be added to it. The NRHP database, National Register Information System (NRIS), which is not always accurate, states built date 1891 and architecture= Colonial Revival. I left the article mentioning both architectural styles, and left the NRIS built date in the NRHP infobox. If that date is incorrect, it should be changed with a footnote to the source for the other info and with the footnote perhaps mentioning the fact that NRIS gives a different date. doncram (talk) 21:49, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

More than one Knickerbocker Building[edit]

There were at least two Knickerbocker Buildings: the one built in 1889 (located on Webster Avenue and currently described in this article), and one that was located at Fifth Avenue and Fourteenth Street[1]. Does anyone have any info on the latter? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:39, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There is also The Knickerbocker Hotel (Manhattan), at Broadway and 42nd, which was known as the Knickerbocker Building after 1920. Seems like Knickerbocker Building should be a disambiguation page, and/or Knickerbocker Building (disambiguation) is needed. --Doncram (talk) 19:03, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I should also note that the one I'm looking for would have been built after 1859 but before 1886. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 21:35, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, good, i started the disambiguation page, as you know. I see your source does assert a Knickerbocker Building at Fifth Avenue and Fourteenth Street in NYC, in passing, as location of an artist's studio. Fifth & 14 vs. much more confirmed Fifth & 34 location of another which seems wikipedia-notable. I don't know if the Fifth & 14 one is likely to be wiki-notable, but if an article is created for it at least there's a dab page to add it to now.  :). --Doncram (talk) 22:45, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Doncram: Any idea what sources would be good to use to try to find the one mentioned in that article? I am not from New York, so I have no idea where to even look for that kind of information. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:03, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, no sources come to mind. I browsed in List of New York City Designated Landmarks in Manhattan from 14th to 59th Streets, List of New York City Designated Landmarks in Manhattan below 14th Street,National Register of Historic Places listings in Manhattan below 14th Street, and National Register of Historic Places listings in Manhattan from 14th to 59th Streets and I don't see any historic district which includes it. It is okay to just let it go, we don't happen to know of any notability about it and we can just let that be, IMHO. --Doncram (talk) 03:17, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Doncram: I'm not (necessarily) trying to create an article about it. I'm trying to find out if there was a Knickerbocker Building at that location so I can include that information in an article. One source I have states there was one at 5th Avenue and 14th Street, but I haven't had any luck locating information about that particular building. It's possible the source got the address wrong (it happens), and I'm following up with the source to see if that's the case, or if there are any records that show such a building existed at that location. I'm just trying to find any information I can. I appreciate your help. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 20:36, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
