Koro–Olrat language[edit]

What exactly is the division in labour between this article and Koro–Olrat language? – Uanfala (talk) 00:48, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good question, Uanfala. Koro–Olrat language is a mere artifact of the "Koro-Olrat" glottolog id, but it does not correspond to any reality. Koro and Olrat are separate communalects, with distinct phonological systems and all, different oral traditions etc. In fact, as this diagram shows (from work by Kalyan & François in historical glottometry), Olrat is actually much closer genealogically to Lakon than it is to Koro (a point I once made elsewhere).
So while they are two members of the same linkage, Koro and Olrat should be treated as separate WP entries; as far as I'm concerned, "Koro–Olrat language" could be deleted, as it does not refer to a language.
Whatever happens ("Koro-Olrat" page renamed or deleted), detailed information on either language should go to their respective page.
