This article says Kuznetsov is equivalent with the English 'Smith'. Does it have the same meaning? or is it simply the most common Russian lastname? EmmaSmith 09:08, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it does. Russian word "кузнец" (kuznets) means "blacksmith", and "-ov" means "of" (masculine version)→kuznets+ov=(son) of (a) blacksmith.—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) • (yo?); 12:02, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
