Did You Know A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on August 13, 2010.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that more than 440 players have lived at La Masia (pictured), but only 10% have made it into the FC Barcelona first team?
Current status: Good article

Barcelona had 9 players from La Masia play in the Final that help Spain win their first World Cup title. I think a section should be added and also how many titles have been achieved by the players to graduate from the school. La Fuzion (talk) 01:38, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please use T:AH to organize the talk page so I can understand the concerns of the prior reviewers. I think I see about three prior peer reviews and an official copy edit. I want to make sure I have an understanding of what the past issues have been.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:00, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Opening comments:

General
LEAD
History
  • It seems to me that La Liga should have a link.
  • Is there no history between 1988 and 2007?
    • Not very much I'm afraid, most focuses on the recent success of Barcelona and Spain. Sandman888 (talk) 10:46, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't understand this sentence: "The success of La Masia as a talent school has been ascribed by Ian Hawkey of The Times " and why isn't The Times linked?
  • Link some of these regions since many english speakers are not familiar with regions of Spain: About half of them were from Catalonia, and the rest came from other regions of the Kingdom of Spain and beyond, including 15 from Cameroon, 7 from Brazil, 5 from Senegal and 3 from Argentina. Of those 500, about 10 percent made it into the first team.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:11, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Organisation
  • You talk about the cost, but don't mention a tuition cost to the players.
  • comprise should probably be "are comprised of"
  • Is there a link for "2009 10 season"--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:38, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Checklist[edit]

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
This article is quite deficient in terms of covering the history.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
I am not so sure about the licensing of File:Masia-AmorFerrerMussonsGuardiola.jpg
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
Because of my concerns about the history, I am requesting a second opinion.

2nd opinion[edit]

  • Short of listing all of the players who graduated through the academy in the seven years between 1990 and 2007, I don't think that is a particular problem to have this "gap".
  • The word ascribe is a synonym of attribute, see wiktionary:ascribe. Jezhotwells (talk) 11:57, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • The image File:Masia-AmorFerrerMussonsGuardiola.jpg. Tony asked me to look at the licensing. The license is definitely wrong. This is a photograph of a photograph, so the copyright belongs to the original photographer. I have nominated it for deletion at Commons, but it might be OK on English Wikipedia with a suitable fair use rationale. Jezhotwells (talk) 22:51, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • This article is on hold awaiting final responses from the editor.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 19:54, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thanks to both of you for the reviews. I've removed imaged and replaced ascribed with the synonym. Sandman888 (talk) 09:08, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am now satisfied and am passing this article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:10, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni[edit]

The alumni section is confusing. It only lists the players' career with FCB on some, while on others it lists their careers with other clubs. In any event, also league appearances seem to be lumped together for all players. Cesc Fabregas never featured for the Barca first team, but it still lists appearances as if he had. Other players' careers are only listed for Barcelona, even though their careers lasted years later, while also including appearances featured for other clubs --something that has been fixed for some. There must be a better way to organize this data --or perhaps not even include appearances at all, or have a different section for "career with FCB". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.142.9.21 (talk) 15:32, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

National Team Players[edit]

I don't know if this is significant enough but 35 (the ones I could find) of the players that have passed through La Masía have played for the national team.

Xavier Hernández i Creus 98 games Carles Puyol i Saforcada 94 Francesc Fàbregas i Soler 56 Sergi Barjuan i Esclusa 56 Andrés Iniesta Luján 54 Lionel Andrés Messi 51 Josep Guardiola i Sala 47 Guillermo Amor Martínez 37 Albert Ferrer i Llopis 36 Francisco José Carrasco Hidalgo 35 Gerard Piqué i Bernabeu 29 Sergio Busquets i Burgos 26 Giovani dos Santos Ramírez 22 José Manuel Reina Páez 20 Albert Luque i Martos 18 Luis Javier García Sanz 18 Ramon Maria Calderé i Rey 18 Carles Rexach i Cerdà 15 Pedro Rodríguez Ledesma 11 Johan Jordi Cruijff 9 Gerard López Segú 6 Cristóbal Parralo Aguilera 6 Javier Moreno Varela 5 Jonathan dos Santos 5 Iván de la Peña López 5 Albert Celades i López 4 Gabriel Garcia de la Torre 3 Francisco Joaquín Pérez Rufete 3 Víctor Valdés i Arribas 3 Luis Milla Aspas 3 Sergio García de la Fuente 2 Fernando Navarro Corbacho 2 Bojan Krkić i Pérez 1 Gai Yigaal Assulin 1 Haruna Babangida 1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.43.187.7 (talk) 22:30, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ángel Pedraza[edit]

Can someone add Ángel Pedraza to the table? He died yesterday and all spanish newspapers confirm he was the first player from la Masia to play one match at the first team of FC Barcelona, at a UEFA Cup match in 1980 in Malta. He then left Barça and returned later, to play his first La Liga match in january 1986 with Terry Venables.--Jordiferrer (talk) 16:11, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Table Alumni[edit]

The table is actualizated with more players in the Catalan Wikipedia. --62.57.98.62 (talk) 22:06, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do they use same criteria to add a player (minumum number of games played, or similar) ?--Jordiferrer (talk) 12:23, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. --62.57.98.62 (talk) 13:46, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
