Beutiful peaceful town by the sea. An observatory close by exists in the town of Mamalluca. Great little place for some Andes star gazing.

English used in this article[edit]

I find the English in this article not very good. Is it a translation from Spanish? In my opinion it needs some correcting. SylviaStanley (talk) 16:10, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There has never been a F1 race in my hometown, La Serena, not even in Chile. Please update. Ankrator (talk) 13:46, 6 August 2009 (UTC)AnkratorAnkrator (talk) 13:46, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I did some correcting of the awful English appearing on this page (I'm qualified, believe me), but all my corrections were somehow removed. Also, the contents sucks. Who the hell cares about this or that residencial part of the city? I assume this page is checked out by prospective tourists, who probably have no interest in visiting those parts of the city where the poor live. C.Gonzalez-Aviles, October 4th, 2009.

The English used in this article is dreadful! Besides that, there are a lot of facts written without any source.

It reads like a poor translation. I'll see what I can do later. - Ruodyssey (talk) 12:40, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Both the History and Architecture sections were translated straight from the Spanish wiki article for the city and a separate one for its history, though there isn't a single citation for any of it, and the content of it all is kind of poor in general. For example, the history article says the city's architectural style is called "Renacimiento Colonial", then later is says it's called "Neoclassico". So which is it? I think we could do better to just find a good ref and rewrite most of it. - Ruodyssey (talk) 03:49, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

AREA[edit]

It's interesting that area of La Serena is 3 and half time bigger than Santiago, where live over 5 million people. From Google map you can see that real town area is around 50 km2, so 40 time less than is quated.Pimlico27 (talk) 15:32, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
