Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because...we are currently working on citations and can demonstrate the value of our organization. For example, we have over 100,000 fans on Facebook and are regularly cited by the AFL-CIO in their blogs (the AFL-CIO is the largest labor union body in the nation).

@Rosshb: Your reference to "we": Please see the guidelines on conflict of interest. Also note that we need verifiable references to reliable sources. Facebook likes mean nothing. --Finngall talk 23:30, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because...citations have been added to establish the legitimacy of the organization. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosshb (talkcontribs) 23:54, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Rosshb: Of the provided references, the first does not mention the organization, and the second and third are by the organization itself. Is anyone else writing about them? --Finngall talk 00:34, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The first article (Alternet) links to Labor 411 in the following sentence: "Those seeking web sites that offer extensive links to union made products can go here and here." The 2nd citation is written by Labor 411 staff through the LA County Federation of Labor, thus establishing the fact that the LA County Fed supports and sponsors Labor 411. The LA County Fed's website also links directly to Labor 411 in the "about" section.
@RossHB: (pardon my reformatting your last reply to clarify the order of comments) What we're looking for is articles about Labor 411, not just links or passing mentions, and they need to be from sources that are independent of the organization. Has the LA Times or a local alt-weekly written about them, for instance? Material from the organization itself can be used to supplement information from independent sources, but they absolutely cannot be the sole basis of an article. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising medium or a free web host. --Finngall talk 01:05, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
