Help - cannot get the dot on the map in the correct place! --MJB 22:28, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

St George's Church

Could it be by Pilkington? Perhaps people have suggested this before. However in 1871, Frederick Thomas Pilkington submitted a design to the RSA for a "Lamlash Parish Church for the Duke of Hamilton". Many of Pilkington's churches, including the famous Barclay Church in Edinburgh were for the Free Church. St George's was originally for the Free Church, and for the Duke of Hamilton. 14 years between design and the building date seems excessive, although an eventual occupation date in 1895 suggests problems with finance at least? Certainly the church has elements of Pilkington's less fantastic designs, such as his Dundee churches. The entrance and the tower in particular have proportions and design details which suggest Pilkington.

I believe this was for the Kilbride church but that the designs were "not executed". See here. 16:04, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
