Noah and the Whale[edit]

The article mentions that "She often collaborates with indie band Noah and the Whale" - I was under the impression that she was a band member, as she sings on a number of their songs, and I would have thought that the "Laura" mentioned under band members on the NATW myspace is infact Laura Marling. Also it might be worth mentioning that Charlie from NATW produced "Alas, I Cannot Swim". Lbarbs (talk) 14:42, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Laura Marling is the daughter of the last of the Marling family of baronets[edit]

Every time I add this fact (citation: Burke's Landed Gentry, 2003) to the article, someone deletes it. Stop! It is a true, verifiable fact with a citation. It is just about notable if true, (I don't have a copy of Burke's to check, although there are references to her father as Charles/Charlie), although it's difficult to say where a reference would go. If she was related to other notable musicians, that would be notable, but I don't think all notable people have to be connected. If we were talking about Larry Marling, due to inherit the baronetcy, that would be part of that person's story, but on balance, I'd say to hold off unless she mentions it in some way.Billwilson5060 (talk) 23:06, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tone of the Lead section[edit]

I removed a statement in the Lead section that was promotional and unverified: "Marling's music is critically lauded and she has been noted as one of the most talented songwriters of her generation thus far." The first part of the sentence is reasonable, but when written in combination with the second statement, the article becomes a promotional tool for Marling; that is, who has "noted" this claim and, even with a citation, it is still a subjective statement that is not appropriate for an encyclopedic article.--Soulparadox (talk) 19:20, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
