Irish name[edit]

Regarding the rendering of Laura Woods' name, I don't believe it is accurate to use a translating tool or dictionary to show her name in Irish as was obviously done. The correct translation of the surname Woods to Irish is Mac Conchoille. But even still, that is only used for sons of the father of that surname. Daughters use the Nic Conchoille format, with Nic being the female version of Mac. Secondly, the firstname Laura is generally rendered as Lára, not Lora. Therefore the correct translation of her name should be Lára Nic Conchoille and not Lora MacCoille. However, it should be up to the person herself as to how her name is rendered in Irish, if indeed she does want it rendered in Irish (take a look at any programme on TG4 - there are plenty of léiritheoirí, stiúrthóirí etc. who do not use a translated name but instead use their Anglicised version), and not us. --MacTire02 (talk) 08:13, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
