Gerstein[edit]

(repeating post I put on Gerstein disc) I find no reference anywhere that the French gendarmes found the painting while they were investigating Gerstein's crimes. After all, they were found three years after his suicide; the French cops can be slow, mais quand meme. Not surprisingly, none of the English-speaking press that I have seen, including the Beeb and the NYT, seem to have clue who this guy was. Figaro is a little better http://www.lefigaro.fr/culture/2008/11/24/03004-20081124ARTFIG00360-la-france-restitue-un-matisse-vole-par-les-nazis-.php Joel Mc (talk) 13:42, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
