Hate to delete a good faith edit but the glaring plot holes don't belong in the Plot section. I include them here in case readers are interested, or maybe an editor would like to try and find an article or review that points out the plot holes so that they can properly sourced and mentioned in the article. -- 109.77.106.153 (talk) 00:49, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Irish Independent review mentions "The geography of this film does not bear close inspection", but doesn't go into detail about how absurd it is that a flight bound for Dublin would divert to Wales, or how ridiculous and implausible the possibility of a ferry from Wales ending up in Dingle Co. Based on?[edit]

Several weird claims that this film was based on other existing works have been added to this article

Stories can share similarities but that is not the same thing as actually being based on an existing work. There always seems to be someone willing to claim that a film is either based on a Bollywood film or that a Bollywood film is a remake of an existing film, despite no reliable sources to support such claims. None of these claims seem to have any basis in fact, or reliable sources. This is all ORIGINAL RESEARCH.

I've added a citation needed tag to the latest claim to give editors a chance to properly source it but I probably should have removed it immediately as it is totally unsupported speculation. -- 109.76.209.211 (talk) 14:58, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I notice a reference to The Indian Express[1] in the next paragraph for no apparent reason. The reference may be in entirely the wrong place but reading the article I see it it claims that this film "Leap Year" was a remake of a Bollywood film Jab We Met. There does not seem to be any solid evidence for that claim either, it seems to be part of the pervasive mass delusion that every generic film is either a remake of a Bollywood film (or if the commentator is being hysterical "plagiarized by Hollywood") or going the other way has been "remade" by Bollywood. Indian filmmakers are prolific and they make their own style of films tailored to Indian tastes but these claims about remakes are almost never based on any facts, with very very very rare exceptions, exceptions so rare they are notable and actually reported by reliable sources.[2]
This is supposed to be an encyclopedia article, it is supposed to be based on reliable sources, not rumors or theories. I'm removing all these ridiculous claims about Leap Year being a remake from the article, and they should not be added again without reliable credible sources. -- 109.79.175.86 (talk) 09:53, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
An article from the Hindustan Times quotes director Anand Tucker who expressly denies that the film is based on a Bollywood film.[3] He does say "If anything, the inspiration for it is a movie called I Know Where I am Going by Michael Powell, made in 1945." Note carefully If anything and he only said "inspiration". He did not say directly that this film based on any other film. Please read the sources carefully.
Also if this film was directly based on another film (and no one has actually said that) then that detail would still need to be added to the production section. It is WP:UNDUE to add such claims to the lead section, as the WP:LEAD is supposed to summarize not supplant the article body. -- 109.79.67.139 (talk) 14:14, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
