Comedy Style[edit]

Could someone please add Lee's comedy style(s) to the sidebar like other comedians have. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.146.56.3 (talk) 12:23, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Roots[edit]

Are Lee Evans roots Jewish, Protastant or Catholic?

re:I thought he was hindu? Does it matter where he comes from?

User:tommyhaych 23:52, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, from what he says in his stand-up acts, not to mention his name, he is very much definitely a Welshman. Whether or not he is protestant or catholic... well, it is hard to say. However, of my fellow Welshmen and Welshwomen, Catholics tend to be darker-skinned (due to the historic Spanish influx), however Lee Evans is quite fair-skinned. He also alludes to Cardiff ancestory. Thus, I would reckon it is more likely he is CofE or CofW than RC. I wouldn't bet money on it though. Of course, why would he have any religion? He may be agnostic or atheist, or he may be of another belief system. I guess your best bet is to e-mail him/his manager, if you are that interested. It can't hurt, it's not taboo! :-)
However, religion aside, I think we can agree he is a very funny guy! I can't wait until I get the chance to see him live! Awesome.

Interesting line[edit]

This line is interesting: "in 1981, at age 17, he married Heather Evans, with whom he has a daughter, Mollie, born in 1994, and a dog, Brian". Seems to imply that his wife gave birth to a dog??? 82.46.18.154 (talk) 12:11, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. --Vergency (talk) 00:39, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Age and year of marriage incorrect[edit]

I went to see him last night, and he said he'd been married to his wife for 24 years. This makes sense as 3 years ago at the XL Tour he said he'd been married to her for 21 years. So I'm seriously doubting his age as being 44 if he married his wife at 17, he'd be about 41 wouldn't he? Unless he didn't marry his wife at 17, but he did say they married very young. WilkoDCFC (talk) 10:43, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you think his age is wrong, why don't you just edit it and change his age? Jprulestheworld (talk) 15:47, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: Just looked at this article: [1] Says:

"Obviously, that idiotic persona is exaggerated, but it comes out on stage because of nerves," says Evans who turned 41 in February.

Then later it says:

"I've been married for 21 years now," he reflects.

So by the looks of things he didn't get married at 17, so I reckon the "married at 17 in 1981" bit should be removed, because that interview was done in 2005, so he would have been married in 1984 and the age of 20. Especially as in his new tour he says he was married 24 years ago, which makes sense. WilkoDCFC (talk) 19:37, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where Lee was born[edit]

It says Lee was born in avonmouth, but he wasnt he was born in cardiff —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.103.167.13 (talk) 17:33, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This would require a reliable source. At present the one we have says Avonmouth, so that's what we must go with. Please feel free to find a better one. --Rodhullandemu 16:28, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

His work[edit]

Shouldn't this page contain a discography of his DVD releases? --90.216.190.245 (talk) 17:13, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sweatiness[edit]

I think we are probably overdoing the sweatiness. Even if Evans' problems with sweat are as bad as presented here, he probably isn't as unusual among performers of his type. --TS 09:35, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You'd think so, but go see one of his performances on youtube and you'd see that the man sweats profusely during every show.(216.36.153.161 (talk) 14:34, 12 March 2010 (UTC)).[reply]

Just as once it was rare to hear the name Kenneth Branagh without a reference to Laurence Olivier, the association between Evans and Norman Wisdom has become a cliche. I've googled on this and the only mention of Wisdom I can find by Evans himself is in a 2004 interview in the Daily Telegraph where Evans denies Wisdom as an influence. I've altered our article accordingly. --TS 09:35, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie Chaplin as an influence?[edit]

I can't help but find amazing similarities in their mannerisms.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find this comparison anywhere on the net.
Does anybody have any reference about this being stated by someone other than myself? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guy... (talkcontribs) 17:45, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality[edit]

As per WP:BRD, I've edited the subject's nationality from Welsh to British. The subject's location of birth and residence are given as places in England. The article nowhere refers to Wales. I see from above that some editors have said Evans refers in his act to being Welsh, but for his biographical article here to assert that there needs to be some evidence. I have edited to British rather than English simply because the former (plus NI) is a soverign nationality. I have no objection to it being English but I have edited to respect the possibility that he is indeed Welsh: Whether he is or not, though, he is certainly British. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emmentalist (talkcontribs) 09:18, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Years Active[edit]

I've reverted/edited years active, which had been altered to note that the subject is preasently active. The article explicitly says that Evans retired in 2014 then came briefly out of retirement for a single event in 2017. It is inconsistent to therefore assert that he is active today. Of course, many actors do nothing at all for some years then do a movie and are not considered inactive over that intervening period. But this article specifically asserts that Evans retired, and Evans himself has said this. If the article is to be changed to say he is not retired, then all the relevant parts of the article need to be edited - along with a rationale so other editors can, if they wish, give or withold consensus. All the best, Emmentalist (talk) 08:18, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
