Lee Su-jin (director)Lee Su-jinLee Su-jin is currently a redirect to Seomoon Tak (it's her birth name), but judging from Google News Seomoon Tak clearly is not the WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT; rather the director is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 16:25, 18 November 2015 (UTC) Relisted. • Oppose common almost generic name, none of the three ko:이수진 articles have articles on en.wp, which suggests in itself no primary; though the Miss Korea runner up is mentioned as a wife of actor Cha Seung-won. The director is he more notable than all other Lee Soo-jin, Yi Sujin combined? Not clearly. FWIW "Lee Su-jin is" pulls up an artist, no Lee Su-jin should be converted to a dab. • Your comment fails to demonstrate that any of the other folks by the name Lee Su-jin are sufficiently notable to displace the director from the primary position:
      1. English Wikipedia has a grand total of one article about a person who is commonly called "Lee Su-jin" in English: this one.
      2. The director gets 90% of the first 40 English GNews hits for his name, and is the only person with a Wikipedia article who gets any GBooks hits either
      3. Seomoon Tak is not commonly called by her birth name either in Korean or English.
      4. Soojin Lee writes her name in the Western order because she's active in the West, spells it differently, and also doesn't hyphenate it. Any confusion between her and the director can be handled with hatnotes.
      5. The three 이수진 bluelinks over on Korean Wikipedia consist of a weathercaster, a racing model, and a footballer; only the footballer is likely to meet en.wp inclusion criteria. The redlinks (Cha Seung-won's wife, who was born in 1967, is not among them) consist of an actress, a singer, a model, a basketball player, and another model. None of these sound like people who are sufficiently likely (even all nine of them combined, if they all suddenly got articles over here) to be who English Wikipedia readers are trying to find, rather than a director who received multiple awards & significant international attention for a highly successful film.
      6. If you want to argue that the artist displaces the director from the primary, first you need to prove her notability & create an article. One GBooks mention doesn't do it.

The point is the director doesn't have to be top Lee Su jin, he needs to be significantly more notable than all other Lee Sujin Lee Soojin Yi Soojin etc combined. And honestly if making an article on a 3rd Lee Su-jin probably Lee Su-jin (singer) 1980 would be the one, with so many albums and appearances on KBS http://www.maniadb.com/artist/108745 03:21, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
No, he does not need to be significantly more notable than every possible transcription, he needs to be significantly more likely to be whom readers are trying to find than others who are known as Lee Su-jin. That is sufficiently demonstrated by the fact of him having 90% of the GNews hits on his name. By definition 90% is greater than all other people combined. Confusion with people known by other transcriptions of the name can be handled through hatnotes as is standard practice in other cases like Kim Jong-un vs. Kim Jung-eun, Lee Gwang-hyeok vs Ri Kwang-hyok, Kim Young-nam vs. Kim Yong-nam, Jeong Da-woon vs. Joung Da-woon, et cetera. We do not need a Wp:TWODABS here, least of all when there is no ambiguity in English among existing articles. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 04:03, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes he does, and more significant than Seomoon Tak as currently, Lee Su-jin (singer), Lee Su-jin (drummer) (redirect to Messgram), Lee Su-jin (designer) redirect to Soojin Lee all combined. This is a clear case for a dab page at baseline. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:24, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not a single English language reliable source calls Seomoon Tak "Lee Su-jin" [1], and as mentioned Soojin Lee does not spell her name that way. Where is the possibility of confusion here? 210.6.254.106 (talk) 04:30, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We have a MOS for how we transcribe Korean names, there are multiple, 5 or 6, people with this name already on en.wp, this one isn't even on ko.wp, the current redirect redirects to the birth name of someone much more notable, do you not think that for anyone looking for the musicians, the fashion designer, who has never heard of this new director there is really zero possibility of confusion? In ictu oculi (talk) 04:33, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We have an MOS for how we transcribe Korean names when there is no common name in English. Soojin Lee and Lee Su-jin already have common names in English. And calling Seomoon Tak "much more notable" is ridiculous; she gets 6,000 Naver News hits [2] against 5,000 for "Lee Su-jin director" [3]. Furthermore, precisely TWENTY (0.33%) of the six thousand Naver News hits mention her birth name [4]. No one either Korean-speaking or English-speaking is looking for her when they type 이수진 or Lee Su-jin into a search box. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 04:42, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
