Wording[edit]

Hip Hop "connoisseur". This needs to go. Howard Cleeves 10:15, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, so I changed it to organizer. Yearwood has organized many concerts, and has worked closely with Simmons and P. Diddy. PeteinDC 15:54, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Speaking out loudly against torture"[edit]

This needs rewriting to show that it's Yearwood who was calling what's going on at GTMO torture, and not Wikipedia. I will think of a way of doing this in a bit. The Wednesday Island 14:58, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Things this article needs[edit]

  • More citations for everything
  • A birthdate
  • More information from a credible source on Yearwood's Air Force status, and details as to what happens. The "American Chronicle" does not exactly look like a credible source to me.

Steven Andrew Miller (talk) 18:34, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article can not be a résumé or a laundry list of every single protest Yearwood has attended or organized. It should be a summary of significant events. — Steven Andrew Miller (talk) 19:22, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No context, no citation[edit]

The sentence "Furthermore, UPI reports that the video being circulated on the Internet 'does not seem to show an assault.'" is out of place and not cited. To me, it looks like an attempt to downplay the incident; I removed the "Furthermore" because it doesn't make sense here. Also, something from Yearwood's recent interview with Democracy Now! should be included, at least the fact that he's using crutches now. 137.99.115.217 18:01, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removing "furthermore" is fine, but the quote is indeed a citation. The UPI article does say that. I would say that removing it would be an attempt to up-play the incident. — Steven Andrew Miller (talk) 18:16, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My issue was that it wasn't cited before, but now it's linked to reference 8. 137.99.115.217 20:23, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One more thing: I think the Democracy Now link should go to Democracy Now's website, which has video and audio as well as a transcript. 137.99.115.217 20:27, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit effort[edit]

Removed some of the puffery and obvious pr. There's still quite a bit of pov and statements regurgitated from the Hip Hop Caucus website. Also added a few tags for citation; not as many as I thought it needed. This article needs more reliable sources. Richigi (talk) 20:29, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
