Place of birth[edit]

Is there evidence of a place of birth or anything else that verifies that he is English, or is this mere assumpion based on accent? Kevin McE (talk) 00:51, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He's from Birkenhead, he's actually a former player for Tranmere and made over 250 apps. TheBigJagielka (talk) 15:21, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Playing Career[edit]

This article at the Guardian says Parry had a playing career. The user:144.32.47.224 says it is a different Les Parry. Which is correct? TheBigJagielka (talk) 15:53, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Guardian article is correct; there are not two Les Parrys; Les Parry the physio/manager is Les Parry the player. Nicander (talk) 18:05, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion at WT:FOOTY brought up evidence to the contrary: do you have sources other than the Guardian to support this? Kevin McE (talk) 21:13, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have no sources as such; it is just a longstanding (~20 year) belief formed through having watched said player and physio perform. Nicander (talk) 09:41, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Therein lies the problem: no articles specifically state that it is the same guy: potted biographies describing his appointment state nothing (apart from this one in the Guardian) about him as an ex-player, and inference that he came from outside the game to the physio role has been found. Different dates of birth have been sourced, but the whole thing has an air of being unresolved to me. What is the belief of the Tranmere fanbase? Is explicit reference to his playing career there made? Kevin McE (talk) 12:03, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article has just arisen which all but confirms the belief that there are *two* Les Parrys, and that Les Parry the physio/manager is not Les Parry the player: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2010/10/when_a_physio_becomes_a_manage.html#259460 I hang my head in humility. Perhaps someone who is more devoted to this aspect of Wikipedia can integrate the information in that article within the Wikipedia article. Nicander (talk) 12:36, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The hatnote at the top of the article explains that. Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:24, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
