Can someone please explain what is required to remove some of the flags. Other bios have less sourcing and verification, and have less notices. (Not a skilled wikipedian here.) --Matteblack (talk) 18:56, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am working on a major overhaul of this article now, similar to what I did with Katherine D. Ortega and Anna Escobedo Cabral, so that will take care of the orphan, citation, and clean-up tags. As for notability, Sanchez is now a well-established "talking head" on both CNN and Foxnews as well as several major papers and considering that there are a ton of articles on local newscasters with not nearly as much exposure, that should take care of that. The only thing left is neutrality- but since no one has posted an actual objection since the tag was placed six months ago, it is difficult to address the problem- if any. I think it might be due to the brevity of the article and why it was even created in the first place. My re-write will be longer (although the early biographical details are, regrettably, light), so I plan on removing that tag as well until such time as an actual objection is raised. The Original Historygeek (talk) 16:01, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, re-write in place. I left the "orphans" tag in place as I am still in the process of locating suitable links (there was one already and I added two more). The Original Historygeek (talk) 07:04, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DOB[edit]

As previously stated, I am an associate of Leslie Sanchez, trying to help her get the facts in this article correct. There a few small issues with the terrific work done, thus far by OriginalHistoryGeek (for which she is most grateful). I will list them here, as we make the changes to the article.

  • The birthdate was off my 2 years. While she understands the need for concise bibliographic data, out of privacy considerations, she would prefer that the precise day not be listed.--Matteblack (talk) 19:46, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed certain info for now while I review the sources. The Original Historygeek (talk) 05:46, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the complete DOB may be unknown or uncertain or, at least, not readily found- then it should be excluded. But the YOB alone is fair game- especially since three of the articles cited clearly establish it and, therefore, link it to Sanchez and, in accordance with Wikipedia guidelines, it should be listed.MStoke (talk) 05:33, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sanchez asks which articles (among the many listed) cite the DOB you reference. They are probably all derived from the same mistake mentioned below.
The article from Roll Call, which is the Capitol's publication (and is on Leslie Sanchez's own site) and the one from RealityTV World which is taken directly from CBS. There is no evidence of retractions in either case. Both come from 2005- well before the Hokins alumni 2006 newsletter- and both give her age then as 36. I am sure that CBS would have her proper particulars for legal purposes. All this is moot, however, as her profile in the Poder magazine reference flat out gives her year of birth as 1969. Again, no retraction is evident.MStoke (talk) 02:23, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sanchez says the Hopkins article is incorrect. It was reporter who made an error, and that one feature story hardly constitutes a reliable source. She is considering posting the information on her site long enough for you to use HER as the authority. Will that be satisfactory? She would be fine with leaving it off completely, per history geek's note. --Matteblack (talk) 23:15, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A posting on her own web site would be definitive, IMO, as it would be on a site that unarguably she controls. However, if it were not permanent that might pose a problem for future edits. It might still be effective, however, as a link to the archived site, such as via the Wayback Machine, would make the reference permanent. I have used that for other articles. The Original Historygeek (talk) 02:33, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The one feature story may not seem to constitute a reliable source to you, but it is a source nevertheless- from an established site and one that anyone can check. In the meantime, the only counter you have to offer is that you claim to know Sanchez. How is that more reliable? How can that be verified? I agree that if she actually posted something on her own site it would be a credible source, but until then, the YOB is clearly established in 4 articles as 1969.MStoke (talk) 08:43, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We will be soon resolving the other errors on the page.--Matteblack (talk) 02:44, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Links[edit]

I've managed to create a few more links, and I see the orphan tag has been automatically removed by someone's bot. Hopefully, the revisions have addressed all the previous concerns. The Original Historygeek (talk) 01:47, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Never Worked For McCain[edit]

Ms.Sanchez has never worked for John McCain in any capacity, and the citation (provided by not link) is simply erroneous. Whatever information that publication used for this assertion is simply wrong.

The reference and link has been removed. --Matteblack (talk) 02:42, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Run for the Presidency?[edit]

Has she ever expressed interest in some day running for President? Just wondering. She undoubtedly has the good looks which will be needed, and would be a shoe-in to tick off the "First Female President" / "First Hispanic President" boxes.
