Requested move 14 March 2016[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: no consensus. It was moved to make way for a redirect, which I personally believe was justified, considering James Bay is considerably more popular. The redirect now links to the disambig, which I believe is fine.(non-admin closure)QEDK (TC) 16:38, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Let It Go (Heo Young-saeng EP)Let It Go (EP) – The article was moved from "Let It Go (EP)" to "Let It Go (Heo Young-saeng EP)" by an editor days ago for an unknown reason. Later on, I found out that it was to give way for another album with the same title by another artist (James Bay). Afterwards, not only was this article renamed, but the old article "Let It Go (EP)" was redirected to the latter artist. Is it possible to undo all of these for many reasons? 1. Heo Young-saeng's album was released first (2011 vs. 2014); 2. "Let It Go (EP)" article for Heo was created first; 3. The old article "Let It Go (EP)" was already linked to many articles (including DYK page). Would anyone please help me solve the problem? There's just too much articles linked on the old page and I don't want to literally go over to each linked page to change the link. Also, it would be unfair to the old article. Thank you! 001Jrm (talk) 05:53, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose WP:PRECISE multiple topics with the same name, so ambiguous disambiguation should not be used. Instead, the target title should redirect to the disambiguation page Let It Go -- 70.51.46.39 (talk) 06:52, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    • How about the other articles linked on the old page? I'm okay with it as long as the articles linked on the old page be fixed. In fact, the old title should have been replaced years ago before this problem comes up (I didn't make the page, fyi). I'm not accusing anyone though. I just don't want people to be redirected to a disambiguation page and be confused. I was just going to be silent about it and fix the links myself, but I'm very busy with school and there was already a redirection made to James Bay. I also don't know if I have the rights to change the link on DYK page. I know everyone's busy and all, but is there an easier way to fix all the links redirected to the old page? Thanks! 001Jrm (talk) 05:43, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
      • WP:JUSTFIXIT; any article that links to the old article can be fixed. The DYK page can have a {{info}} added to indicate the current location of the article -- 70.51.46.39 (talk) 04:55, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. There are multiple EPs with this title so more disambiguation is needed. Let It Go (EP) is now redirected to Let It Go, so everything seems right. Random86 (talk) 06:36, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • After reading the RfC at WT:TITLE, I am changing to Support. This is currently the only EP with an article, so the shorter title is makes sense. Random86 (talk) 07:59, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What RfC at WT:TITLE? ... just looked.... Seriously, we are no longer determining titles by the real world but on whether articles are forked? In that case do we need to fork Let It Go (EP) into a stub just so people aren't sent to a Korean-language EP? This is insane. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:33, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per WP:SONGDAB: If EPs are genuinely notable as an EP, and not for the main song on the EP, then the disambiguation should be "(EP)" unless "EP" is itself part of the title. This is the only notable EP named "Let It Go". sst✈ 10:37, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per SSTflyer and WP:SONGDAB. This is the only EP of this title that has an article, or more than a mention at any other article.--Cúchullain t/c 15:47, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose – with so many works by this title, full disambiguation does the reader a favor. Dicklyon (talk) 01:59, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per SST, this is the only notable EP by that title. Hatnote if necessary. -- Tavix (talk) 12:59, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bay released his debut extended play, The Dark of the Morning, on 18 July 2013. His second EP, Let It Go, was released on 12 May 2014.[10] The Let It Go EP debuted in the top 10 iTunes album chart[11] and the lead single, titled "Let It Go", peaked at number 10 in the UK charts.

But it isn't: the English-language Let It Go (James Bay EP) is far more likely to be looked for than a Korean-language EP by English language readers on English Wikipedia. The status quo here per WP:Naming conventions music allows both English-language song fans and Korean-language song fans to find both EPs, which is the purpose of the guideline. Why not follow it?
