Does anyone know what the Latin (or at least that's what I think it is, I don't know latin) on the front cover means? I tried to look it up, but all I could find were dictionaries that gave meanings for each word but when they're put together it doesn't make sense. -Liz July 2, 2006

I tried looking it up too, and I found on a message board that it supposedly means "For us, for them, for you." Pretty cool. Personally, Burn Burn is one of my fav lostprophets songs. So I got a real kick out of that. Xthepicturex 13:53, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I believe that's true - latin translators generally come up with "for us theme for you" or similar, which is pretty close. Needs official confirmation if it is to be included in the article though. U-Mos 19:32, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm a Classicist with 9 years experience of Latin, and I'm afraid I have to disagree with your translation a little. "nobis pro lemma vobis" is a bit of a "nonsense Latin" motto - literally it means "For a theme [or possibly "title"]; for you, for us", having no real meaning.

It looks like someone tried to find out what "them" was in latin (illius) and typed in "theme" by mistake - "lemma" - so perhaps the people designing the album cover got it wrong. Who knows! Any ideas? Dixontm (talk) 09:53, 30 April 2008 (UTC)09:53, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Regardless, no matter which translators I use, I keep getting 'pro lemma' for 'for them' - even though, when you turn it around, it does mean 'theme' or 'title'. Anyone know exactly WHAT the accurate translation of 'for them' would be? 66.97.48.203 (talk) 16:31, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

It's wrong on so many levels. 1. Firstly 'lemma' means theme/ title; nothing to do with 'them.' 2. Secondly, 'pro' as a preposistion meaning 'on behalf has' (which I think is appropriate condisering the context of the song) governs an ablative case, so even if lemma was the correct word, it would be "lemmate/ lemmatibus." It's a noun not a pronoun- it's just wrong. 3. nobis and vobis are also governed by 'pro' and therefore also need to be ablative, of course the dative and ablative plurals are the same although I would have thought it's meant as dative here!

As an A-level Latin student I would translate it as: pro nobis eis vobis or more simply, but probably more ambiguous and not as contextually accurate: nobis eis vobis -Oliver Bishop

Song Links/Name

Don't link to the songs unless there is something notable about it, ie it's a single. That Everyday Combat page for instance has no place. I've delinked it but not removed it. (as i'm not entirely sure how)

Is the next single, the video is up on Ryan Smiths website http://www.ryansmithdirector.com/html/4am_vid.html. May I add that the song was written about Ian's ex-girlfriend Marissa Festa, if you notice the model in the video resembles her a lot.

It's about Fearne Cotton, not Marissa Festa. Although Festa is also Ian's ex she is dating Jade Puget of AFI.

Didn't he do a couple of songs on this album? Can't remember where I read this. If so, we can work this into the article and remove the trivia entry. CfW 20:36, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Alternative metal?

I think alternative metal should be removed as a genre, as it is not referred to as that anywhere, and although some songs have metal influences, none of them justifies the album being called 'metal'. Guyaka 17:06, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
