Misleading text[edit]

This article mentions that the Galilee and the Negev have a lot of Arab Israelis, however, I'm pretty sure these areas are not included in the Lieberman plan and he only plans to hand over The Triangle, other central areas like Kfar Qasim, as well as some parts of Jerusalem. Please correct me if I'm wrong. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 22:59, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure if this is correct. I can't seem to find whether or not the Plan includes only the Triangle or other areas. Lieberman's own estimate is that transferring all of the areas would result in a 90% decrease in the Arab population, but that does not necessarily mean his plan intends to transfer all of that land. Can anyone track down a citation for what areas are included in the plan? Adallaadalla (talk) 15:51, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Map[edit]

I think we need a map of the proposed changes. Does one exist? Indisciplined 18:40, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Facts[edit]

In a 2004 speech Lieberman suggested that 90% of Israel's Arabs would have their citizenships annulled. At most 40% of Israel's Arabs live in the Triangle however. Search for "90%" and "Avigdor Lieberman" on Google and there are plenty of references to that speech. Handing over the Triangle is nothing controversial and has been suggested by Shimon Peres and others.

This is also misleading. Lieberman proposed a change where anyone who doesn't serve in the IDF would have their full citizenship annulled. By this virtue, about 90% Arabs' citizenships would be annulled. However, they would not necessarily go over to the Palestinian Authority. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 11:24, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong. Lieberman/YB suggest lesser citizenship for those that in the future refuse to serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) or partake in alternative "national service". Citizenship would only be revoked for those citizens who refuse to pledge a compulsory oath of allegience to the state. Besides, the number of Israeli Arabs who don't serve in the army is far over 99% or nearly 100%. The 90% figure corresponds directly to the size of the Arab population in Israel's three main Arab regions. The remaining 10% live in areas that cannot be ceded because there is no territorial contiguity with the West Bank.

Yisrael Beytenu should be contacted regarding the map. They of all people should have a map. There is a phone number on the English-language web page www.yisraelbeytenu.com to a contact person. He may have a map.

Intro[edit]

This article, and particularly the introuction, reads like Yisrael Beiteinu campaign material. The basic facts of the plan should be described clearly in the introduction, instead of presenting Lieberman's justifications for the plan as fact.Factsontheground (talk) 17:46, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The intro as it currently is has 1 inadequate para describing the plan somewhat neutrally, 3 paras using Lieberman's tenuous historical arguments to justify the plan and 0 paras presenting criticism.

A more fair division (that I have begun to enact) 1-2 neutral paras describing the plan, 1 plan advocating and 1 plan criticizing. Particularly given that the plan is extremely controversial in Israel.

It is also exceedingly difficult for the casual reader to get a basic idea of what the plan entails for the average Arab-Israeli; one could almost imagine that this is the intent. Factsontheground (talk) 18:20, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

liberman plan legal experts[edit]

the opening paragraphs mention that legal experts doubt the validity of the plan, can this be cited please, because in the article you mention people who think it is legal. perhaps a rewording of some legal experts doubt the legality of the plan is better. --129.98.33.14 (talk) 21:13, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
