sentence[edit]

The clear favorite going into the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, Lilia overcame the clear favoritism toward the American athletes, and won the all-around title convincingly.

I've tweaked this sentence somewhat because it shows POV. There was no favoritism shown to the American girls in the all-around. They received fair scores, which included a 9.0 on one event for one of them. DanielEng 07:29, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

LilyPod?[edit]

No mention of the cute nickname many of the announcers (John Tesh among them) dubbed her with, to avoid having to say "Podkopayeva"? I couldn't find a reference to it when I took a quick look, but I remember them calling her that quite well. 209.30.162.72 (talk) 21:56, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updated statistics and fact for 96 Olympic record holder[edit]

This was edited to: "She was the fourth gymnast to win the Olympic all-around title as the reigning world champion".
