Oldest club in South America[edit]

The claim that this club is the oldest in South America is not supported by the refernces provided, so I removed it. The institution may have been founded in 1845 but reference 4 gives a date of 1893 which post dates many south american teams. Please do not re-add the information without providing a reliable source that football was played here before 1867. Simply taking the foundation date of the institution is not acceptable, doing this would make the institution the oldest football club in the world predating the officially recognised oldest club Sheffield F.C. by 12 years. This reliable source states that the first recorded game of football in Peru occurred in 1892. The club website is non-nuetral,therefore less reliable that the neutral source. if you wish to use this article to boast about football in Peru predating football elsewhere on the continent plaese find a relaible source that gives an account of a football match played in Peru before 1867. The club's website is the more accurate of all the sources. The book states that the "first recorded" match took place in 1892, but it does not state that it was the first match to ever happen in Peru. Please learn to differentiate between those two things.--MarshalN20 (talk) 10:51, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral sourced are considered more reliable than self published sources, further response on your talkpage. Please try to avoid being patronising, it is not an adequate substitute for reasoned debate. EP 23:48, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
