Fair use rationale for Image:LimerickCrest.jpg[edit]

Image:LimerickCrest.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The current Limerick FC is NOT the same as the original one. The current one is simply a name change from the one that was formed in 2007 as Limerick 37. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.198.151.130 (talk) 06:45, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You wouldn't think so to look at the Limerick FC Website. In any case, you are correct. However, in terms of Wikipedia, it would be unhelpful to have 2 Limerick FC and a Limerick 37 article (and Limerick City and Limerick United articles for that matter as well), which would probably all be stubs. Would it not be better to have one good Limerick FC article and explain the differences in the history?--Corcs999 (talk) 11:00, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with Corcs999 --Gramscis cousinTalkStalk 13:26, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But the facts on the current LFC page are INCORRECT. It says the club plays in the LoI First Division and was formed in 1937 but it was actually formed in 2007. You can't rewrite history. They are two different clubs despite what some might like to have others believe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.198.151.130 (talk) 05:17, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article is full of mistakes. It has Limerick as winning the "Premier League" twice. There's no such tournament for Irish clubs. The old LFC won the League of Ireland twice. There wasn't even a Premier Division of the LoI until 1985/86 which was after their two wins. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.198.151.36 (talk) 00:04, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

As discussed above I suggest the Limerick 37 F.C. article be merged into this article. --Gramscis cousinTalkStalk 13:32, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

agree: though subsection regarding previous Limerick FC is needed. Bogger (talk) 14:10, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a Limerick 37 subsection to the History section of LImerick FC (work in progress) which covers the main points regarding its brief existence - enough I would think in the context of 72 years of senior soccer in Limerick. I now propose to delete the Limerick 37 article. Comments please.--Corcs999 (talk) 11:42, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I propose to delete the text of Limerick 37 and implement a Redirect to Limerick FC. Unsigned comments or comments from IP addresses will be ignored.--Corcs999 (talk) 12:36, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The section on 1990-2005 contains many errors, e.g. Danny Drew took over after the 2004 season, before 2005 season. There are more. If no-one else has tackled this section in the meantime, I will re-write it in a few months time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.41.203.43 (talk) 17:07, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Limerick 37[edit]

It is not exactly clear in this text when & why the name Limerick 37 was taken. Does the club still have this name today?--Narayan (talk) 18:17, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have added an explanation in the text. It should be clearer now.Corcs999 (talk) 00:24, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clarification! Does this mean that the official name of the club today still is Limerick 37?--Narayan (talk) 19:43, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's Limerick FC.Corcs999 (talk) 20:54, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Limerick F.C. liquidation[edit]

The examinership case has ended unsuccessfully, and so the club is expected to be liquidated, and will not receive a 2020 League of Ireland licence. [1] Culloty82 (talk) 15:46, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
