No-longer-limited series?[edit]

Please expand the scope of this article to discuss instances where limited series are turned into "regular" ones.

Just to take a single recent example: HBO's Perry Mason was just renamed from Perry Mason (miniseries) to Perry Mason (2020 TV series). I'm sure there are loads of other examples, and more to the point, discussion of it among the scholars of the genre (such as the "commentators" discussed here: Miniseries#History)

I think this is an American issue, as programmes of as little as 2 episodes in the UK were once described as serials, but now just TV series, with the genre acting as the main descriptive. British programme made by American online distributors (Netflix for example) seem to use 'limited series,' as in The Queen's Gambit.Halbared (talk) 21:26, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
