What is up with "mimiced"? That doesn't even look like an English word to me. Can somebody explain? RivGuySC 03:57, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think whoever put that in meant the word "Mimicked." Interestingly enough, the anon user replaced the correctly spelled word "Mimicked" with "Mimiced." He perhaps thought that the former was spelled wrong and tried to correct it. Regards, Signature ^brendel 22:29, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing up this article[edit]

Although this article has been worked on fairly recently, there have been some fairly drastic changes that have been made that probably could have been discussed here first (since that's what talk pages are here for...). If we can figure out some sort of consensus, then there won't be as much back-and-forth reverting.

Right now, here is a general "to-do" list:

copyedit the whole article
revise the size classification to mid-size car once and for all (as the Ford Granada and Mercury Monarch platform-mates are classified as such)
rework the layout into something resembling a well-written automotive article (see /Layouts)
(a mostly subjective point) discuss the past few edits here and see what can be reconciled as a whole. While blatantly OR not need to be included, content that has been sourced in the past and is coherent might have merit. Both the Versailles and the 1970s Cadillac Seville were examples of badge engineering, and the article discusses how it (didn't) work for Lincoln, but it no longer uses the Cadillac as a point of comparison. Also, at this time, there was also competition from Europe (mostly from Mercedes-Benz, but BMW introduced the 7-Series the same year as the Versailles); this is something to think about.--SteveCof00 (talk) 08:41, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article reads like a bad Popular Mechanics article from the 70's. And most of it is completely conjectural.
