Should this be in WikiProject Jazz[edit]

Vmavanti: please respect WP:BRD. You removed the WikiProject Jazz tag from here, I restored it, you should come and discuss rather than edit-warring.

Lisa Ono's "album Nanã won the "Grand Prix Gold Disk Award for Jazz" in Japan", according to the article. Reliable sources call her jazz: [1], [2], [3]. Bondegezou (talk) 09:15, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see absolutely no reason why the article shouldn't have the tag Ono is a jazz musician. Bossa Nova is a sub genre of Jazz (and also of Samba), but most definitely jazz. I don't really u derstand the origin of the discussion as why not to include the tag. Cristiano Tomás (talk) 14:29, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Bossa nova is not identical to jazz. Just because someone has played bossa nova doesn't mean they are playing jazz—and it doesn't meant THEY ABSOLUTE MUST be in the jazz project. Bossa nova is a Brazilian creation. Jazz is an American creation. That's step one. The differences are found in numerous sources. Read them. Some jazz musicians play bossa nova. Some bossa nova musicians play jazz. Some mix the two. Some confuse the two. But they are not identical.

We have 2 editors to 1 in favour of keeping the WikiProject Jazz tag. We have RSs. Vmavanti's narrative around bossa nova is contradicted by Wikipedia's own jazz article. I will return the tag. Bondegezou (talk) 15:13, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
