Employment[edit]

"The town's primary employment is at a gypsum mill and the nearby Bath Iron Works, a General Dynamics Company."

Are there any actual numbers on this? I know lots of people work at BIW, but the gypsum mill?

Dear Jvarkias Sorry, but I am new to this and I do not see a "start a new topic" button, so I am just going to ask a question here since I am asking it of you anyway since you seem to be the main writer, for which I thank you by the way--I am glad someone is doing Lisbon Falls. Anyway, as a resident of LF from 1943 to 1965 I have a couple of thoughts for your article. You say that up until the fire, Worumbo was the leading mill...., actually, don't you think that somewhat misleads the reader to think that the Worumbo was vibrant up until the fire. My recollection is that the mill had decreased in stature long before the fire. Keep up the good work.

I can't claim to be the main writer for Lisbon Falls, just the main editor. I don't know who originally wrote the article. Please feel free to alter the statement about the Worumbo.

The Moxie Store/Anisettis/Anicetti's[edit]

Hey, Bob,

I didn't know people used to call it Anisetti's. It's always been "The Moxie Store" to me. Of course, before Frank led the charge in changing Frontiers Day to Moxie Day (that's what it was called before, right? Frontiers Day?) in the early 80s, the store wouldn't have been called the Moxie Store... So, now you now how young I am, I guess, because I don't remember a time before it was The Moxie Store.

I forget Frank's father's name. I remember seeing him in the store, though.

But the reason I changed the name in the article was not to say that the store was called "Frank Anisetti's" but rather to say that there is a corner store that is owned and operated by Frank Anisetti. Get what I'm saying? Plus when I changed it the sentence read, "...Moxie, which was sold for years at Anisetti's corner store." As if the store weren't there anymore!

Also, now I'm confused as to whether it's Anicetti or Anisetti. Any idea? Some anonymous changed it back in February. If you search on google for "Frank Anisetti" you get one article from USAToday.com which has it as "Anisetti." If you search for "Frank Anicetti" you get a whole slew of articles. So, I think our anonymous friend had it right.
