This Irish Rath was built over 2,000 years ago. There was no fighting in it, in the 18thC. That was at the Lisnagade chapel some distance away. Know your history.

No, I don't know the local history around this structure (the article doesn't offer a purpose for it other than referring to a fort), that's why I read it. The article states "In 1783 a battle was fought at Lisnagade fort ..." and "...several Catholic Hearts of Steel are said to have lost their lives in a confrontation at Lisnagade Fort in 1783". If this is incorrect or means something unsaid, then perhaps someone knowledgeable should fix it, as the article should not mislead those who seek knowledge (ie those who read an encyclopedia).

A few side issues: 1) deleting another editor's comments, however wrong they seem, is not done and removes context from your response, 2) sign your comments, there's info elsewhere on this page, 3) be courteous - "Know your history", in this context could have been taken as provocative. Afraid that I do not know the local history either, and have found no further sources on the issue. However, etiquette issues aside, I agree that the article in its current form raises question. It speaks of Bronze Age finds, yet it dates the site as 350 AD which would put it well into the Iron Age in Northern Ireland. Lupusrufus (talk) 19:26, 05 Mar 2023 (UTC)

Access Information

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have visited Lisnagade Fort today based on this Wikipedia article, and found it completely inaccessible. I therefore propose a short amendment to the Features section, namely:

• The fort is completely surrounded by seamless fields with no official access path or parking facilities. Extensive barbed wire fences make public access near-impossible.

No, I don't have a reference for that, but felt a fair warning was appropriate so that people do not waste their time, or at least as a form of expectation management.
