Rebels props[edit]

According to Russell Gould, in the Herald Sun back in July, Rebels props Rodney Blake and Jono Owen, will out of contract at the end of 2012.[1] So the Rebels could be looking for a new loosehead (Nic Henderson plays loosehead, but Laurie Weeks is a tighthead; while Eddie Aholelei can play both sides of the front row). wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 23:41, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pauliasi Manu failed his medical, and will [stay in New Zealand].

Mitchell Chapman now a Waratah (flanker)[edit]

One of Mitchell Chapman positions is Blindside Flaner (as per Waratahs profile). It is confusing, I agree. wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 09:34, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The intro states : "Players might be used in different positions, but will be listed in their most common positions during the two seasons." I'm not sure where he played for NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes last season, although he's listed on their page as a lock. Since he was signed as a replacement for Damien Fitzpatrick, I think the most logical position to list him in is as a hooker. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 09:40, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Noted. However, he's much too tall for the front row.
From the press release: (Coach) Cheika opted against a like for like replacement, saying, "Mitchell has been brought in to fill a specific profile within our squad."
Cheika: "I felt we needed a lock who will be able to help share the workload of our two internationals, [locks] Kane Douglas and Sita Timani, and offer an experienced partner for our two young locks, Ollie Atkins and Greg Peterson, especially around the set piece.
Cheika: "I was convinced of this idea when I spoke to Mitch and saw his enthusiasm for another shot at playing Super Rugby. He seems a quality person and I believe he will fit in to our team environment very well."
Luke Holmes (EPS member) is Tahs number three hooker. And, it seems Chapman will be a lock/flanker who can also play No.8. wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 09:58, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fair point, I incorrectly made the assumption he'd be a like-for-like replacement. Updated. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 10:01, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

George Smith for Brumbies[edit]

from George_Smith_(rugby_union): On the 25 of February 2013, the Brumbies announced Smith would return to Australia on a short term contract, with the Brumbies, for the 2013 Super Rugby season.[1]

Blues[edit]

Sam Prattley[1] has been called in to replace the injured Charlie Faumuina. wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 23:24, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bryce Hegarty Rebels debut[edit]

Bryce Hegarty's Rebels profile lists him as a fullback.[1] He made his debut off the bench against the Blues in Auckland.[2] wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 06:06, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
