Separate column for birthdays[edit]

Now that the members have a separate article, I recommend creating a separate column for birthdays, then we can use {{dts}} for birthdays and {{sortname}} for sorting by last name. -AngusWOOF (talk) 18:07, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like {{Birth date and age}} handles date sorting fine. -AngusWOOF (talk) 18:41, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Now someone just has to go through and add sort fields for the names.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 18:49, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We might have to separate out the kanji and romanizations columns from the English name as sortname cannot handle an embedded Nihongo. -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:26, 3 February 2014 (UTC) Nevermind, I think I can do it with data-sort-values. -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:32, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have added sorting of Team A's listings and added hidden keys where N/A ratings are placed after the main votes, and the blank grey boxes are placed after that. -AngusWOOF (talk) 21:26, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And I have now completed the others :) -AngusWOOF (talk) 21:57, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bringing back home prefectures[edit]

Since AKB48 is planning to assemble Team 8 from a pool where one representative from each prefecture will be selected to participate in the auditioning process, I suggest the prefectures be listed for the members in that group. -AngusWOOF (talk) 18:13, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not unless team 8 consists of 47 members.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 18:26, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's true. If they create JPN47, that would make more sense. -AngusWOOF (talk) 18:29, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like they did it! 47 members from 47 prefectures! [1] So this would be the only case in the table where a representative prefecture should be a column, as they are mentioned in the Team 8 listings. The voting history columns can be removed though since they are all brand new members. -AngusWOOF (talk) 20:21, 21 April 2014 (UTC) updated 20:25, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Join dates?[edit]

Do we have good sources to include the dates for which each member joined AKB48? I would think this would be more useful than birth dates. This can also be added to List of former members of AKB48 along with their "graduation" dates and who they where replaced by. 24.149.117.220 (talk) 11:23, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Usually members join in batches (with very few exceptions). The announcements of audition results and the debut dates for each wave of "kyenkusei" are posted on the official blog. However, usually they are not "promoted" to full members at the same time. Japanese wikipedia is very detailed here: AKB48のオーディション. An alternative would be the usage of the term 期, which is officially used by AKB48, and is translated most often to generation. Adding a column "generation" with values "1-15" would be very convenient for sorting out who was debuting with whom. Be aware that this could be attributed as fan lingo. I would still like it. Merging of articles[edit]

Are there long term plans to merge this one with "Former members"? Could we possibly have only one huge table, sortable by teams? Would save a lot of editing time after team changes, plus gives more sortability. And, in the far future, could we possibly add all other groups to this article? What do you think? Criteria for splitting off members[edit]

Members can be considered for individual articles if they have a notable career outside "48":

Jumping to other 48 groups isn't enough. Neither is joining a subunit.

I suggest creating split proposals by person here for discussion when someone gets notable enough. Hopefully that will minimize AfDs. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 14:50, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Revisiting the tables. Keep it simple.[edit]

With the recent edits to remove tables, should this be simplified to just name and birthdate? That's what is being shown on the roster lists for the official website. [2] The details about their election rankings don't need to be listed. That is original research/synthesis to try to present this in a compiled matter, as the official website doesn't even put in this kind of table effort; only the Wikias and sites like Generasia or Stage48 do. The hometown should only be listed for Team 8. Sports team rosters list DOB so I think this should be okay to keep. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:28, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to keep the timelines, that's fine, that at least shows the person's history within the entire 48 groups, and can be used for active members and easily transfer to the alumni list, which needs an overhaul anyway. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:35, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Plus we need blood types and personal colors. Drmies (talk) 03:34, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Senbatsu History[edit]

What do you guys think about adding a section for the entire Senbatsu history of AKB48. MNL48 has a section dedicated to its Senbatsu history? — Wansawansa (talkcontributions) 03:13, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ugh, no. If the person is notable enough to be in a regular in their Senbatsu / All-Stars, then they will probably have their own article. The list here is simple as is, and the individual singles have their own articles that list the personnel involved. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 03:20, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
