Joseph Dennis Mis-linked[edit]

The entry for Joseph Dennis links to a cricket play from the mid=1700s: Joseph Dennis I'm going to create a new entry for Joseph Dennis_(mathematician) and link to that instead. I'll try to figure out the current conventions regarding disambiguation pages and such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JimD (talkcontribs) 09:32, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Distressingly short list[edit]

By reading this page, one could reasonably draw the conclusios shit none under 80 years of age.

This is quite false (there are, arguably, too few African-American mathematicians, but there are lots more than three!). I wish to question the merits of a page which serves to give an untruthfully discouraging impression of the current state of affairs: who benefits? I started the article because someone else requested it. Presumably it benefits curious people, and it fulfills a role that isn't really well suited for a category. There is a danger that readers will get the wrong impression, which can be mitigated by expanding the list. Melchoir (talk) 08:53, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is this article?[edit]

Is it a list, or is it a regular article? I think it should be split into an article describing the history of African-Americans in mathematics and a list of African-American mathematicians. 203.214.8.5 (talk) 05:57, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Links should be to new website on Mathematicians of African Diaspora[edit]

I saw some links to photos/articles on Scott Williams original website http://www.math.buffalo.edu/mad/index.html. Last year, this website was updated. The new website is https://www.mathad.com/home. There are many good photos on this website that can be linked to. Mvitulli (talk) 17:16, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hilda Bastian[edit]

This page and contributions by Hildabast are mentioned in a Vox article: The scientist who’s been right about Covid-19 vaccines predicts what’s next.

"There was the time she traveled the US on her own dime to research and take historical photos for a Wikipedia list of African American mathematicians."

I saw this article in Vox too, but cant' see that any of the photos on this article were contributed by Hildabast. Mvitulli (talk) 00:33, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
