Suggested Linking policy[edit]

Each county should only be link to once per year , so in case's of multiple winners from the same year only link the first . Also only link as players are added to wiki to limit the ammount of red links (Gnevin 14:46, 4 May 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Agree, though it's more then stadard, one per page, in the contest of the article i think it would be best. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 03:05, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Agree but if someone is researching and they link to one person in a year quickly then they may not a previous link. I have added links x2 here but will clean up tomorrow.

Footballer of the year[edit]

The bold is very hard to see when also a link eg

I tried italics but its not much better

and bold italics

we need a symbol or some sort imo any idea how to highlight this award ? (10:16, 23 November 2006 (UTC))

Agreed that its hard to see. How about using an asterisk
*Peter Canavan - Rye1967 17:48, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Its still very hard to see . I'd also like to suggest spinning off the texaco winners ie all pre 95 or where at one time the official player of the year award for the all stars ?
How about Peter CanavanPOTY. (Gnevin 19:18, 23 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]
The POTY one looks best, Frainc 20:18 23 November 2006
And should we remove the texaco winnners ? (Gnevin 10:03, 24 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]
No, itd make the page too long, der wud have to be a section explaining the Texaxco Footballer of the year, its too much, this page gets bigger by the year. The player sign beside the players name is to encourage the reader to read the article on the relevant player, and the texaco footballer of the year arent directly connected, itd even make more sense to have the page link to the allstar player of the year which starts from 1995 as it is more relevant? Frainc 10:38 24 November 2006
I meant creating a Texaco Footballer of the Year but i see we already have that , in that case i suggest just removing the poty from before 95 (11:21, 24 November 2006 (UTC))
It is useful for a reader of the list of award-winners to know which of them was singled out for note. Just because we can't find a a way of clearly highlighting isn't a reason for removing the info. POTY seems fine to me. But another alternative would be to use a <ref> tag, as in Canavan[1]--Rye1967 18:01, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The ref tag would cause problems down the road if we ever want to reference something . I'm not talking about getting rid of the POTY . I'm talking about pre 95
For each year, the All Stars Footballer of the Year is highlighted in bold. There was no official award prior to 1995, so the winner of the Texaco Footballer of the Year is indicated instead.
I dont see why we should have the texaco awards in the all star awards (Gnevin 20:31, 24 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Ok, I don't mind--Rye1967 22:29, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article has only limited shelf life surely.[edit]

when we comprehensively complete all the categories for the All Star years, this article will become obsolete. Having it here merely adds fuel to the fire of the people who say we shouldn't categorise All Star years. May I suggest we work towards making this page obsolete??--Macca7174 22:02, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article still has merit ,its handy to have it all together (Gnevin 22:27, 27 March 2007 (UTC))[reply]
I think that it will be a *very* long time before everyone on this article has their own page, and it has to stay until then. Some people have only won one award and I don't think they need pages. Al Gore told me minimising the number of Wikipedia pages helps fight global warming!!--Rye1967 14:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

Why not GAA All Stars Awards Winners (Football)? Bogger (talk) 10:44, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. Maybe the "past" is redundant and unnecessary? Derry Boi (talk) 11:10, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Tameamseo (talk) 17:17, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree but it also should be Gaelic Athletic Association All Stars awards winner Gnevin (talk) 19:25, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Other articles refer to the GAA All Stars and not the Gaelic At... All Stars, and they're known as the GAA All Stars generally, also lower-case "winners" so I suggest GAA All Stars Awards winners (Football) and GAA All Stars Awards winners (Hurling) Bogger (talk) 23:43, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Should football and hurling have a capital f and h? Derry Boi (talk) 09:43, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's 50/50 for me. Bogger (talk) 15:31, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The GAA dont seem to use capital a for awards Gnevin (talk) 01:26, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes they do...[1] Bogger (talk) 09:39, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The only usage of awards is here . An All Star award is a highly treasured memento and denotes the arrival of a player at the very highest level of the game. and is lower case Gnevin (talk) 15:02, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
