Article start[edit]

This list was split from a list of BYU people to be more specific and align better with WikiProject Universities guidelines. Please help expand the list with notable professors. Thanks! --Eustress (talk) 21:24, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gordon Gee[edit]

I had some trouble adding him, but Gordon Gee, now president of The Ohio State University, was a professor at the J. Reuben Clark Law School. See [1] for a reference. Any help in adding him would be appreciated. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 01:02, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. If you have trouble, you can copy the code from another section and just change it to fit your needs. Thanks. --Eustress (talk) 01:37, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

The BYU alumni article has a section to state why the individual is notable. What do you think about having something similar in this article so we know why the faculty member is notable? Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 18:10, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had the same thought, but I was trying to mirror FL List of Dartmouth College faculty. I think they designed it that way for a reason, but maybe we can look into why. --Eustress (talk) 18:37, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dartmouth is a good model because, as you noted, it was a featured list. Another featured list to review could be List of Institute Professors from MIT. They do have a notability section. Just a thought . . . Alanraywiki (talk) 19:26, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I changed the first two sections accordingly and made sure the Service column still sorts correctly. If you like it, feel free to adjust the other sections accordingly; otherwise, I can do it later. Let me know what you think. --Eustress (talk) 19:59, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge law school professors[edit]

The professor listed on List of J. Reuben Clark Law School people should be merged into this article; then the law school article can be deleted and redirected to this one. --Eustress (talk) 22:53, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:BrYoung.jpg[edit]

The image Image:BrYoung.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Picture of Brigham Young???[edit]

I understand the university is named after Brigham Young, but his picture seems inappropriate on this page. He was never a faculty member at BYU. A better picture would be one of Karl G. Maeser the first professor of the school. I don't have a picture of him, but if one can be found it would be more appropriate for this article. Daw44 (talk) 16:19, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hafen[edit]

Bruce C. Hafen was the dean the the law school and later provost for the university. What category should he go in? Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 19:17, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did he ever teach and classes at BYU? This page is for current and former faculty, not administrators; i.e., unless we can determine that he taught classes at BYU, I don't think he belongs on the page, but he if did teach classes, it was probably in the law school. --Eustress (talk) 20:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He was a law professor per [2], so that is probably the right place. The first paragraph of this article includes administrators, so if that is not your intent you may want to change that sentence. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 21:37, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good point...Faculty (university) says that administrators are often included as faculty (I was mistaken), so Hafen should be included either way under the law school. Thanks for your inquiry and thoughts. --Eustress (talk) 21:50, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
