New BS EN section[edit]

There already is a Wikipedia article entitled "List of EN standards" and listing "European Norms" (EN). On the face of it, a "BS EN" section added here would just be a duplicate of that "List of EN standards" article with the "BS" prefix. When all is said and done, "EN 16804: Diving equipment - Diving open heel fins - Requirements and test methods", say, is exactly the same document as "BS EN 16804: Diving equipment. Diving open heel fins. Requirements and test methods".Helmardine (talk) 08:01, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Helmardine. Are all EN standards available with the "BS" prefix, or just a subset of EN standards which BSI has selected or is in some way involved with? BobKilcoyne (talk) 08:14, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good point, BobKilcoyne. I've just Googled the status of each BS EN Standard in the list and they all work both with "EN" and "BS EN". This said, I found a page on the BSI site entitled "Standards and EU Exit" at https://www.bsigroup.com/en-GB/about-bsi/uk-national-standards-body/standards-and-eu-exit/, which says "Since 1 January 2021 the UK no longer aligns with the rules or obligations of the EU, with the exception of Northern Ireland which continues to follow certain regulations. More detail of how this affects standards can be found in the related information section under product regulation, where you will also find information on designated standards." So I guess it might be a matter of "watch this space" if and until BSI starts creating its own standards again independently of the EU.Helmardine (talk) 09:20, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will just add a "see also" link for now. BobKilcoyne (talk) 04:56, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
