Notes on Edits[edit]

PerryTrenton (talk) 02:18, 26 July 2021 (UTC) I replaced the grainy image of the Atlanta main library with a high resolution image from Library of Congress[reply]

National Register of Historic Places[edit]

I've added several notes for ones that are on the National Register of Historic Places. There are likely others. In at least one case (Boston), the library building is a contributing property to a NRHP historic district. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 19:36, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I just realized that they are indicated by the cyan background for the list item number. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 19:41, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable Dates[edit]

PerryTrenton (talk) 00:28, 26 July 2021 (UTC) I believe the four entries for the Atlanta library are in error. Four libraries would not have been granted all on the same date - 3 Oct. 1898. The first library, presumably the "main branch" was granted 2 Feb. 1899 per an 8 Feb. 1899 article in The Atlanta Constitution - pages 1 and 6 which include the dated letter offering the grant. The library building was estimated to cost $100K while fitting it out, etc. would bring the total to $200K.[reply]

PerryTrenton (talk) 00:28, 26 July 2021 (UTC)The grant date for the library at Georgia Tech is also questionable. A 17 July 1908 article in The Atlanta Constitution states that $5000 was passed by the Georgia senate to equip and finish the library. I realize there may have been a time lapse between the grant and start of construction, but would construction have commenced without a commitment from the state to provide their half of the bargain?[reply]
