Advincula not installed yet[edit]

Per WP:CRYSTAL we cannot add future events as if they have already occurred. Advincula has not been installed, and is not archbishop of Manila yet. Please wait until his installation takes place and he formally takes possession. Elizium23 (talk) 17:31, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the data indicates the date of appointment and not the date of installation, that is the reason why we only indicate Advincula as Archbishop-elect, unless it is edited as Date of Installation, technically it will be Sede Vacante. CommanderPhoenix (talk) 18:39, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
CommanderPhoenix, since he has not taken office, it is a factual error to state that he is archbishop of Manila here. Perhaps we should consider switching to placing date of installation in the table, since that is the actual date that a bishop takes office. Elizium23 (talk) 18:43, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'll put that into consideration, I'll have that edited within the month, but for now the data will remain as it is. CommanderPhoenix (talk) 19:21, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
CommanderPhoenix, please comment at WP:DRN and refrain from modifying the WP:STATUSQUO until the dispute is resolved. Elizium23 (talk) 08:05, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RFC[edit]

There are two questions:

  1. Should (arch)bishops who have not yet taken office through a liturgical installation ceremony be listed under their new office in this table?
  2. Should (arch)bishops who have not yet left their prior office be listed under their old office in this table? Elizium23 (talk) 15:14, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • 1: No; 2: Yes, per WP:CRYSTAL. We can update the article when the actual facts have changed, not when there's simply been an announcement that the facts are expected to change.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  16:12, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merger discussion[edit]

List of Catholic bishops of the Philippines was created on 00:01, 6 February 2022‎ (moved to article space 08:52, 22 February 2022‎) and appears to be redundant with List of Catholic bishops in the Philippines created on 08:17, 3 May 2008‎. Gjs238 (talk) 04:02, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of Catholic bishops of the Philippines was originally drafted as "Historical list of Catholic bishops of the Philippines" and was pattered from Historical list of the Catholic bishops of the United States. It was renamed to what it is now when the draft was approved, which the author of the draft did not want it to be called. It is distinct from the List of Catholic bishops in the Philippines which only lists incumbent and living emeriti bishops and was likewise patterned from List of Catholic bishops in the United States.
