Merging of the Character Pages?[edit]

Survey

I created this page, so I realize that I'm a little biased. Obviously, information on this character is currently limited. I can see why people would consider merging it with the main Drive page. I suggest we keep it for the following reasons: 1) It will not be long before there is more information on this character, and we will already have a starting point 2)character pages from series are common in Wikipedia, and certainly have a precedent. Merging for merging's sake will likely lead later to a re-emergence of this page once the show is on. My vote, for what it is worth, is a strong oppose. I think for now it wouldn't hurt to merge the character pages into the main article. I know that eventually (as stated above), that more information will become available as the show hits the air, but at the same time that isn't until mid-April. There are only two character pages, and both contain barely any information. I think we could just as easily create a characters section within the Drive article, to give a brief description of each character as more is unveiled about them. If at some point there is an abundance of information than that would justify creating individual character pages.
In summary
1.) The show isn't even on the air yet, so it's hard to justify individual character pages for a show that may flop after airing only a couple episodes. Nothing, even the name of specific characters is solid yet, the show is still filming it's first few episodes. I think time will tell when seperate pages are called for, but right now is way to early to have them.
2.) There really isn't enough information to justify having individual pages. Creating a characters section within this article would do for now with the very limited information around on the show.
3.) TV series do often have character pages on Wiki, but they are usually for successful shows, and have merged off of the main page due to the large amount of information available.
4.) It is easy to create new character pages again if needed in the distant future. I don't think we should keep them just for the sake of a possible headstart, on pages we may in the end not need at all.
I personally am really excited for the show, but I have to put my vote as a resounding yes in favour of the merge. Since this article itself is small, it calls for the merge of the related (character) pages into it. Refer to Wikipedia:Article size subheading "Splitting a Page"-a rule of thumb. Merge - As stated above, there is no current need for individual character pages, although I look forward to the day that they are needed. The main article will be more informative with the known character info remaining on the main page. -- Pesco 00:13, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree with a merge. The show looks interesting, and I hope that one day it will be big enough that it needs its own page, but for now, we should wait. --Barrylocke 12:37, April 17 2007 (GMT)

I already voted for a merge as above. Really though, something needs to be done soon, because this article is branching off everywhere. We have the main Drive article, then there is the page dedicated to listing the Drive characters (which could be included in the main article easily), then lastly a handful of characters on top of that have their own pages. It's a little redundant at this point, especially since only three episodes have aired. With the ratings the show is pulling in sadly, it looks like we'll be lucky if we get all six episodes at this point. Anyways, the discussion for the merge has been open now for over the two weeks needed, and the vote up until this post has been 5 for merge, and 1 oppose. That seems like a pretty clear consensus. Either way I figured I'd try, and sum it all up, and open the floor if anyone has any last votes etc... I'll do the merge tomorrow, but if someone feels so inclined then go for it. One last clarification issue in this merge is what would people prefer, merging the aforementioned individual character pages into the list of drive chracters? Merging the individual pages into the main article? Or merging the whole lot individual profiles/list of drive characters into the main article? Yikes, there are alot of different ways to go on it! Character Pages[edit]

I created character pages for the all the main characters so this page wouldn't get cluttered. I believe the more information we get about the characters in the upcoming episodes should go in their character pages.

The other characters could get individual character pages as well, when we get more information on them. Since only three episodes have aired, however, I only did the main characters (which we have the most information on). Alliterator (talk • contribs) 04:29, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I included all the characters in the credits as "Main Characters" (and listed them in order of where they are in the credits). That leaves four other racers in "Other racers." Though they seem arbitrary - Violet Trimble is a main character, but her father isn't? Kinda weird. Alliterator 01:58, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
