Emmerdale character articles; invitation to discussion[edit]

I've begun a discussion regarding the atrocious state of character articles within the Emmerdale universe. These articles stand to be deleted unless corrective action is taken. Please join the conversation at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Emmerdale#Serious problems across the board; let's start with character articles. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 16:00, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actor names and Character names[edit]

I am reading through the article and seeing that both are there wikified... whats the point? if the character name is wikified then surely the actors names doesnt have to be there too!? is it ok if i remove them or is there a rule that they both have to be there? I think it will tidy the article up a lot more if they are removed but thats my personal opinion... any objections please state here. Thanks JMRH6 (talk) 02:42, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, they shouldn't really be removed... adding actor names is putting in the real world perspective. Which fictional subject matters should adhere to.RaintheOne BAM 03:01, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why on earth would you remove the actors' names?? Smurfmeister (talk) 19:49, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Characters Pages[edit]

Surely some main stream characters like Dan Spencer, Ruby and Ali, Sean, Amelia, Jude, and Cameron all certify their need for their own page. Ok Alex is dead now but would it be worth writing him his own page too? As he was in a few major stoylines in his time in the village and Cameron is a major character too at present. JMRH6 (talk) 04:41, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just because they're regular cast members doesn't automatically make them notable. I'm almost certain that Sean, Amelia and Jude do not qualify for their own articles. There just isn't enough development info for any of them. Amelia is a young child with a lack of important storylines, while Sean and Jude are/were recurring characters which makes finding reliable sources more difficult. I believe User:Raintheone is working on an article for Cameron. I've thought about creating articles for Alex and Rachel. I think I'm more open to creating the Rachel one at the moment. If you can find reliable, third party sources which cover casting, development and reception, then I reckon Dan, Ruby and Ali could have articles too. Maybe start a userpage draft and see what you can come up with? You can always asks other editors to look it over and provide feedback. That's how I usually do it. - JuneGloom Talk 22:08, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion Cameron definitely needs his own page. ThisIsDanny (talk) 20:37, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think Raintheone is planning to split him off in the next few days, using the draft he has started. - JuneGloom Talk 00:27, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to the Cameron article? He is surely notable enough for one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.0.101.57 (talk) 20:27, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A draft article for Murray was created via the AfC process. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Cameron Murray. It was declined for the technical reason that AfC does not handle split requests. The content there may be useful for you. --LukeSurl t c 11:51, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ali Spencer[edit]

She's marked as 'former, regular' but has it been confirmed that she's left? She's appeared intermittently lately and I can't find any sources to say Kelli Hollis has left the show. Smurfmeister (talk) 15:10, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there was ever an official announcement. This source mentions a departure [1] and this one mentions her final appearance (for now) [2]. I'll check Inside Soap magazine and see if anything is mentioned there. - JuneGloom07 Talk 01:44, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
