Governors List?[edit]

When a Governor dies, resigns or is removed from office; the Lieutenant Governor does not become Governor. They remain Lieutenant Governor, performer gubernatorial duties as Acting Governor. The List needs to be revamped. GoodDay 21:35, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you; that's information that for some states can be unclear. I'll note it when I can. --Golbez 04:55, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Eking-1.jpg[edit]

Image:Eking-1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Acting Governors[edit]

In the incidences where the Lt Gov had to fill-in as Acting Governor for the rest of term, the person is still Lieutenant Governor. Therefore, there shouldn't be any vacancies, next to the Acting Governors tenures (as they are the Lieutenant Governors). GoodDay (talk) 23:08, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

True. Except for in 1800, when the Council was governor. Sahasrahla (talk) 03:01, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, Cellucci was Governor from 1999-2001. Lieutenant Governor from 1991-99 (acting Governor 1997-99). GoodDay (talk) 16:10, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Epeabody.jpg[edit]

The image Image:Epeabody.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Table is fixed up[edit]

The only time the Lieutenant Governor position was vacant, was during May 1800 (when the Governor's Council, served as Acting Governor) & 1985-87 (after John Kerry resigned). In Massachusetts, when the Governor dies, resigns or is removed from office, the Lieutenant Governor remains Lieutenant Governor, only assuming the gubernatorial duties (for the rest of the term) as Acting Governor. Recent table changes[edit]

When the list is split into multiple tables, it is not possible to sort the entire list by different criteria (e.g. alphabetically). The current layout also incorrectly says that acting governors have no lieutenant; this is incorrect, since the acting governor is the lieutenant governor. The previous organization had this noted correctly. The previous organization also had a column in which notes on that governor's tenure (why they left or gained the office, for example) could be entered. Don't worry, I'll fix it at some point in the mid-near future when I bring it up to the standard of the featured lists like List of Governors of Alabama. --Golbez (talk) 19:33, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
