Spaces after Full Stops[edit]

Why are there so many sentences with no space after the full stops? Surely this is standard practice? I've fixed it, as required, down to Donald Fisher, afaik. Any comments? --220.101.28.25 (talk) 15:10, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tables[edit]

Can't we have the table headers blue though, I want an influx of blue. =DRAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 21:42, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh lord, lol. I'll go and work out how to get them blue again. - JuneGloom Talk 22:41, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yay! Hint, look at the current cast of Neighbours, the blue on them is where I stole it from originally. :pRAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 23:04, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I thought you did. I just need to change the type of table. Tbh, I'm not sure why I added the colour to the Neighbours list. I was possibly copying the Emmerdale and Corrie lists with the colouring thing. - JuneGloom Talk 23:13, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
 Done - JuneGloom Talk 23:15, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ty, I might see if Hollyoaks want to follow suit. It's just a small thing, but makes everything look in line and neat.RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 23:21, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why have you included that "Previous actor" column (which I noticed someone has also added to Recurring characters of Home and Away). It just makes the list look untidy: 90% of the time it's blank and the other 10% it's just confusing. It would be a lot better if you used the same format as List of Home and Away characters, where the actor is actually listed alongside the dates they appeared so you can see who played who when. Skteosk (talk) 21:30, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The duration is supposed to cover the character's time in the show, not the actor. - JuneGloom Talk 00:31, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm on second thoughts, the previous actor column works better elsewhere, but not here. H&A needs to recast more characters. I'll edit the tables again. - JuneGloom Talk 00:34, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've done this one and the recurring list. - JuneGloom Talk 01:09, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect?[edit]

Given the recent deletion discussion, should this one be redirected to that page, since it doesn't contain any additional information? Let me know if anyone has any objections. Skteosk (talk) 12:30, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear. You didn't give enough time really did you, it's been one day, I never even noticed it. Plus the suggestion was that the character list it's self is merged, so it's lay out read, present, future and past.. I don't think you've accounted for the link breaks that have no been made in character articles that would need fixing too, in the info box for the characters. That needs changing.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 17:12, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
H&A just needs two to three lists; Current, Past and possibly recurring. The current cast list is the one that should be renamed List of Home and Away characters and you should keep the past list. - JuneGloom Talk 18:27, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies if people think I've overstepped the mark. To be honest, I wouldn't have done anything if the deletion discussion hadn't ended with the words "You'll have to sort out the merge/redirect yourselves" (or something along those lines, I haven't checked the exact quote), which left me feeling I should do something to try and rectify the concerns. Several people, including me, expressed the opinion that the information should all be in one place rather than split into two articles. If the current list hadn't included information that wasn't on here, I'd have redirected that too. The past list was completely redundant, in my opinion, since it was simply an appreviated version of the main list. I don't see the point in calling an article List of Home and Away characters if it isn't a list of Home and Away characters but just a list of the current ones. I don't think the redirect has broken any links, they'll just redirect here, the links to subheadings were already broken when the past list had most of its sections removed. Skteosk (talk) 16:39, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I meant the merge Frickative suggested when I said the others can do it. Oh well. :pRAIN*the*ONE BAM 17:08, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if I misunderstood you. Got a fairly radical suggestion for how to proceed, feel free to discard it. At the moment, there's five lists: List of Home and Away characters, List of current Home and Away characters, Current characters of Home and Away, Recurring characters of Home and Away and List of Home and Away characters (2011), with more on the way. Current characters... I've already given my blessing to being deleted once all the main characters on it have their own page or at least a decent section in one of the years lists (earliest one without a page was introduced in 2007), so assume that's going. Ignoring the years lists, I'd say we only need two: regulars (ie List of Home and Away characters) and recurring. You can delete the other current list once there's 2009 and 2010 pages, redirecting it to either the regular list or the 2011 page, which seems to be where the forthcoming character details are ending up. I don't think the regulars list needs to be divided into past and present characters, that would just give people more places to look, especially with characters like Morag skipping between the two regularly. So maybe put the current characters in bold so they'll stand out if someone's just skimming the page? Just an idea. Skteosk (talk) 20:20, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Aslong as the list of H&A characters page has two sections present, future and recurring... in the table format that exists on current characters, then a past characters section at the bottom. So it can have refs for cast changers and so on then, like the other soaps. The tables would need to blue though, to fit with the templates that match the other soaps in the other soaps. :)RAIN*the*ONE BAM 22:14, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Most, if not all, of the soap current character lists are named List of (insert soap here) characters. And as I said above, you want one of these, one of these and a bunch of these. Keep the past list (and possibly merge the recurring list to it), move the list of current characters to List of Home and Away characters and then redirect the other current cast list to it. - JuneGloom Talk 22:46, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually yeah I agree with you Junegloom, should be like the others. We'll see what happens in the future.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 23:48, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, and a number of people on the deletion discussion agreed with me, I don't think "It's what we did here" is a valid enough reason for splitting the article in two. If you really, really want to split one article into past and present characters, I don't see the point and think it's unnecessary but it's a reasonable compromise, so long as you restrict yourself to main characters. No objection to it being blue though. Skteosk (talk) 05:53, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
