New Updates[edit]

Hello, can anyone update Gujarat Lions chart on Team Summary? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.163.99.109 (talk) 16:27, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone update the hat-tricks table with Rashid Khan's hat trick against KKR? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.115.178.199 (talk) 23:16, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Completing the tables[edit]

I have left placeholders for most of the records which seem logical to include in this article. These are largely sourced from Cricinfo but it may be that other websites have more interesting records which are worthy of inclusion (ie. most runs conceded, lowest percentage of dot balls in career etc etc).

I would be grateful for any help available. Kind regards--Calabraxthis (talk) 10:48, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My source for the large majority of these records is Cricinfo Kind regards--Calabraxthis (talk) 12:53, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orange Cap and Purple Cap[edit]

Could someone confirm whether the Orange Cap and Purple cap are for the entire tournament or for the league stage only. My understanding is that it is for the group stage only. Semi-finals and Final will not be considered.

For the entire tournament.Vin09 (talk) 08:19, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is from "List of Indian Premier League records and statistics", under "Bowling records" inside that "Most dot balls bowled(tournament)" (table's 3rd line as at 09.05.2015).

Error is Lasith Malinga is mentioned as SRH (sunrisers hyderabad) team player where as he is a MI (mumbai indians) player.

The flag icons for West Indies players must be of their nationalities and not of their cricket board. Eg: Chris GayleJamaica, Dwayne BravoTrinidad and Tobago. Can anyone correct these in the article? 59.88.204.51 (talk) 09:27, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Use of rowspans in record tables[edit]

Other than the leftmost row that signify either the record or the rank in the table, rowspans should not be used for other content from adjacent rows (such as team names, player names, grounds and dates). These are harder to read for users. These have been removed already in List of Test cricket records, List of One Day International cricket records and List of Twenty20 International cricket records. Ajf773 (talk) 18:03, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. And the same has been implemented here. I have only kept rowspans in first two columns since they generally represent the main reason for a table creation. Ankurc.17 (talk) 13:45, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

All rounder records[edit]

How is "500 Runs and 20 wickets Overall" needed? It's a random set of number combinations that is easily achieved, it's been done in 29 innings by Mitchell Marsh, so any all-rounder playing for 3 seasons could reach this. Doesn't seem useful for this to be included. And "200 Runs and 5 wickets in a season" is a ridiculously low threshold for season record, as 3+ people have achieved it every season, making it completely pointless, random stats fandom. Win off the last ball[edit]

There are so many wins off the last ball (2-3 a season, 7 this season)- how can this be considered an important statistic? Joseph2302 (talk) 15:02, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Working through to deal with issues[edit]

I'm working through this article to deal with a number of issues:

  • some of the stats don't belong here, they belong on the individual team records pages (e.g. best bowling against a team);
  • some of the stats are super stats crufty and I'm removing them (e.g. career economy rates). I might remove more of the ones I've left, I haven't decided yet - all of these are in the page history so can be recovered there if anyone can present an argument that I'm wrong to remove them;
  • some long tables I'm replacing with prose summaries and a link to the, usually, CricInfo table that the table was copied from. I might do this with other articles as well, I'll see;
  • I've removed the purely decorative colours - these are clearly unnecessary and simply make the article harder to read for people with visual impairment;
  • I'm moving sources to outside the tables and dates updated above the tables using a handy template. This simplifies the table format at the same time;
  • I'll usually remove rowspans as they simply make tables harder to update and serve little purpose;
  • there is a manual of style that needs using here...

There are other things I'll do as well - like link the other list articles we have on stuff like five-wicket hauls and centuries, but that'll take some getting to. If anyone has any comments or arguments to make, this is probably the place to make them Blue Square Thing (talk) 09:08, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
