Content Forking of Jackie Evancho article and general poor quality[edit]

This article seems very promotional in nature, exceeding that of a "list" and providing basic information, and is most definitely not presented in a quick and easy-to-read fashion. Much of the content presented in this article is a copy-and-pasted replication from the Jackie Evancho main article, and much like that article, the supporting descriptive and informative text are not composed in any sort of fluid narrative or otherwise easily read structure and style, and instead appear to be presented just as disordered collections of facts and opinions arranged in paragraph-looking formats. Much cleanup is needed and I believe the low quality of this and the Jackie Evancho article are due to the voluminous amount of overly detailed material of interest only to a niche audience and the lack of time to improve such items by the few contributors (that are of that niche audience), rather than due to a lacking in their capacity to compose quality writing. It is not necessary to throw a lot of ugly tags on the article and to use insulting language. Those of us who have worked on this article have done the best we could, especially considering that we are all volunteers here. It is going to be mostly you and me who will improve this article (assuming that you want to help), so let's just have a nice conversation, make a plan, and fix it. A good "list" article is not just a list of bullet points; it has an introduction that explains the information below, and then the list. See WP:Featured list for more information about the best lists on Wikipedia. I am not even sure whether this is really a "list" article, or just a sub-article that discusses Evancho's tours in greater detail than we have room for in the main article. See WP:Summary style. In general, I disagree that it is too detailed (see below). To address your issues:

See if you can rewrite the language that you feel is too "promotional" so that it is more neutral, without losing any important information.
If you can make it more "fluid", by all means do so!
What are your objections to the "structure"? Let's discuss ways to improve the structure. In general, I must say that I like the organization and structure of it. See next bullet point.
I disagree that it is "disordered": It is presented in chronological order, and broken down very sensibly, it seems to me, for each tour.
Before you delete any information, I suggest that you tell us here what information you do not think is important in this article. This article should be *more* detailed about Evancho's touring than her main article, and eventually, the information in the main article should be streamlined per WP:Summary style. Indeed, if anything should be deleted, it should be information from the main article that is presented here in more detail. There is a lot of information to be covered in this article, which currently describes four separate tours by Evancho, one of which is just beginning. -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:48, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gillwill2000, I think you need to take a step back for a moment and realise that all articles are a work in progress. I believe that list articles are very helpful in supporting biographies and play a vital role in keeping lists separate from the main article. I agree with Ssilvers that simply adding tags makes the article look ugly. Anyone can add a tag; it takes no skill or effort to do so. But fixing them is a whole different ball game. I really do think that if you spent a bit more time making constructive edits rather than vilifying the efforts of others, this article and others like it, would be all the more better. Being a Brit, I have no real idea who Jackie Evancho is I'm afraid. However, upon reading the main article over the last few days, I became quite interested and have now seen a few videos of her on YouTube. The list article should predominantly be about the music and shows. You say "Much of the content presented in this article is a copy-and-pasted replication from the Jackie Evancho main article". A helpful lead section should explain a bit about Evancho as a person and her music and tours. As a reader who has no clue about her, I would expect to read this both here and in the main article. I have removed the tags as I do not believe they are required in the article and are not helpful at this stage. If a consensus is reached here on the Talk Page that these problems exist in the article then please reinstate them. Having read the article through I have to agree with Ssilvers and Cassianto above that the way to help here is to actually edit the article to get it up to what is an agreed standard or to discuss here how the article can be developed. To stick tags on an article written with sincerity and to criticise the work of others who give their time and expertise to come here and work on this encyclopaedia is not helpful. Name of article[edit]

It certainly contains lists of Jackie Evancho concert tours. But I think I'd say that the balance is more towards a normal article containing some lists than a list article containing some prose. If there were a little more about the reception of the "America's Got Talent: Live Tour" in the same way as for the "Dream With Me Tour", then that would clinch it for me. Assuming that any expansion of the article will be to add more text, I'd suggest you go ahead and rename the article. The Debut Tour[edit]

So far, Jackie's upcoming tour to promote The Debut contains stops in New York City and Pittsburgh. The paragraph on the Byham Theater's website started with "With her new album and world tour…" "Jackie Evancho - The Debut - Pittsburgh". trustarts.org. Hopefully she'll bring The Debut Tour to other countries. The last time she included a tour stop in Japan was during the Songs from the Silver Screen Tour in 2012, and the last time she performed in Canada was during the 2015 leg of the Awakening Tour.
