Vodacom South Africa's 5 GHz LTE network[edit]

The table lists, that Vodacom would have a LAA LTE network on 5800 MHz, on LTE channel "255". There is no such channel number on 43GPP TS 36.101 (https://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/archive/36_series/36.101/36101-g40.zip), channel numbers for 5 GHz are channels are 46 for 5.2 GHz and 47 for 5.9 GHz.

Could someone please check this? I spent some time googling around, but I did not find any technical details about Vodacom's LAA system. Ktt (talk) 16:13, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thx for the note. I'll see what I can find out about it. Nightwalker-87 (talk) 23:03, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ktt, in previous releases of 3GPP TS 36.101 - Tables 5.5-1 "E-UTRA Operating Bands" and 5.6.1-1 "E-UTRA Channel Bandwidth" two bands (b252 and b255) were defined for LTE-U. Both were scrapped in later revisions of the standard with the specification of LAA to somehow supersede LTE-U. See LTE_in_unlicensed_spectrum for details on both technologies. LTE-LAA uses the bands 46 and 47. The available sources claim the use of "5.8 GHz" for LTE-U (Launch in Sep 2016), which indicates band 255 is in use and "5 GHz" (which is also commonly used for LAA) which indicates that b46 was deployed in Sep 2017. I have corrected the list and would like to thank you again for your input. ;-) Nightwalker-87 (talk) 23:38, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

South Africa frequency additions[edit]

In the last 12 months the South African radio licensing authority approved and allocated multiple different mobile providers with additional frequency to operate with. This does not appear to have been upgraded in this page. 154.0.3.194 (talk) 11:04, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
