Cup Champions[edit]

http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/2004/data/standings_official.html http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/2007/data/standings_official.html http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/2008/data/standings_official.html

After the litle editting war on 11/10/09, I went and retrieved the official NASCAR Cup standings from NASCAR's own website for 2004, 2007 and 2008, which shows that Kurt Busch won the 2004 Cup, and Jimmie Johnson won the 2007 and 2008 Cups. The other person (anonymous person) was using hypothetical info based on the pre-Chase points format which NASCAR has not used since the 2003 season. Sponsors[edit]

When the list of champions were on the pages of their respective series, their main sponsors were listed... why were the sponsors of the cars removed in the transition to this page? I thought it was a good thing to note about the championship winning cars... I personally, am not gonna spend all the time inserting all the sponsors all over again, I would just like to know whose idea it was to remove them.

...also, whoever messed around with the makes of cars of championship winning cars, please pull your head out of your ass and look things up... Richard Petty did NOT drive a Dodge Charger in '79 (hell, no one in Nascar was RUNNING Chargers by that time), Dale Earnhardt only drove a Charger in Cup ONCE, and that was 5 years before he won his championship... and by 1985, hardly anyone was running Buick Regals, let alone the championship winning Junior Johnson/Darrell Waltrip team, who were then running the aero-nosed Chevy Monte Carlo SSs.

Late Model Sportsman Series[edit]

i have looked all over the internet and there is not one in depth list of sportsman series champions. we need to find information of that series and put it on that page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24JGM (talkcontribs) 22:04, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this should be a separate article. While notability is met, I don't see the need to split it off from this thread. It should be discussed anyway. If we decide to keep it that way, we would have to clean up the duplicated info from this article. We could also add the extra info from the cup article to the sections on the other series. --Wean0r (talk) 02:37, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, the list here is too long. I was also planning to create one for each series and maybe eventually delete this one. Also if each series has it's own page then this should be seprate too. --Nascar1996 (sign) 02:49, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it is pretty much impossible to improve this list to featured status. --Nascar1996 (sign) 02:56, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose merge and keep split. The Sprint Cup champions article was just split out per discussion at WikiProject NASCAR and I have given my reason for supporting the split there. First, articles should be able to be linked to the correct champions article. Second, having a merged article limits the needed accompanying text for each series. Why be brief just for the sake of limiting article size? Third, I felt the article had too much information in it already. Royalbroil 03:46, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, didn't see that discussion. Withdrawn. That article should be renamed to something like List of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions though. (adding NASCAR and decapitalizing champions) --Wean0r (talk) 08:14, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Wean0r's rename suggestion. The "c" should be lower case and NASCAR is important to the title. If you agree or are neutral, would you please move it, Nascar1996? Royalbroil 13:03, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not to sure, but where you already done it I guess so. Just to ask, why is'nt NASCAR in the title for the Sprint Cup Series? --Nascar1996 (sign) 13:44, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Don't know but it probably should be, along with Nationwide Series, Camping World Truck Series, Whelen Modified Tour, Whelen Southern Modified Tour, and any others. A bunch of the other series have it: NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, NASCAR Corona Series, NASCAR iRacing.com World Championship Series, etc. Would be nice to have some consistency. --Wean0r (talk) 00:09, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It would be easier just renaming the list again. --Nascar1996 (sign) 00:23, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion:[edit]

After I do some updates to List of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions, List of NASCAR Nationwide Series champions, and List of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champions can't the list be deleted? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 23:56, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I made the article a disambiguation page since readers could be looking for information like this. This page now links to the other pages. ~NerdyScienceDude () 00:16, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Keep per NSD. Airplaneman 00:33, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm okay with it. --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 00:34, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Keep for these reasons plus there's a bunch of discussion that points to this article. Royalbroil 04:48, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Keep, a disambiguation page is fine especially as there may be a bunch of external sites pointing to this page. --Wean0r (talk) 05:22, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It will be kept because its now a disambiguation page. --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 13:39, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
