Attribution[edit]

This page was created by the merger of stubs from individual pages on the various mascots; those pages now redirect here, and their edit history is preserved in the edit history of those redirect pages. BD2412 T 15:51, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Quality[edit]

This page is, frankly, terrible, and needs a rewrite.JonnyChance 23:45, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mascot Rankings[edit]

There are a few stubs that talk about rankings, or some sort of bast mascot contest. Could comeone put a reference, or some kind of link to these rankings please. I've never heard of them —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 131.104.233.56 (talk) 16:20, 15 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

"Third Intermission"?[edit]

I noticed in this bit about Gnash, of the Predators:

In the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd intermission he picks kids to skate on the ice with him.

Is the "third intermission" in question actually referring to the pre-overtime break in the playoffs (and if so, does he really do this with playoff OT coming up?), or was it written by someone who doesn't know the structure of a hockey game? J21 19:04, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • It would probably just be an error by the editor. Fixed. Tavix 23:51, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copy-paste[edit]

This page is mostly a copy-paste of the various articles on the NHL's page. For example, compare the section on Howler with this article. This is definitely a violation of copyright. 68.227.120.66 (talk) 00:03, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Harvey the Hound 1st Mascot?[edit]

How can Harvey the Hound be named the the 1st NHL mascot if mascots such as Pittsburgh's Penguin Pete (1968), and Philadelphia's Slap Shot (1976) pre-date him? Is he the "Oldest Active Macot"? --Pennsylvania Penguin (talk) 14:22, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Harvey can be cited as the NHL's first mascot: [1]. Penguin Pete was a real animal rather than a "traditional" mascot, so that might account for that distinction in the CBC article. Can the origins of Penguin Pete or Slap Shot be cited? Resolute 16:18, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I did the article and entry on Penguin Pete, the best article to cite him came from this site.[2]. As for Philly's Slapshot, I'm not a Flyers fan nor do I associate with any Flyers fans, so I don't know (nor really care) if he even existed. Though I do think each of these mascot entrys need to either cited or deleted. --Pennsylvania Penguin (talk) 17:38, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Colorado Avalanche Mascot Returning?[edit]

They're Dropping A Pretty Big Bombshell [3]KingRaven (>$.$)> (talk) 02:15, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, you're mixing things up. Howler the Yeti never returned. In fact, a new mascot, called Bernie, was introduced. He debuted to the public against the Vancouver Canucks at the Pepsi Center on October 3 in Denver. Does that clarify things now? -- ISLANDERS27 08:51, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Toronto Maple Leafs - Carlton the Bear[edit]

I have reverted this edit about the Maple Leafs' mascot retiring, which was pretty much word-for-word copied from this sportsnet.ca article on November 27, 2009 (and copied all over the web). The only official word from the team is this, posted the same day, which states (in a rather humorous manner) that the rumors are false. Me Three (talk to me) 20:12, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
