Questions and proposals[edit]

  • I'm not enamoured with having a column for co-ordinates. I think this would be better illustrated by a map.
  • When should the "opened" date refer to? The first time the ground was used for any purpose, the first time it was used for football, or the first time it was used by the team in question? For example, Anfield was used by Everton before Liverpool, Bramall Lane was originally a cricket ground.
  • Should the list be divided into separate lists for current and former Premier League venues?
  • Stadia or stadiums? My usual style guide, the Guardian's, specifies stadiums
  • Should there be a column for Capacity (final capacity for the defunct ones)? Oldelpaso (talk) 12:14, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I put the coordinates in because I have great difficulty with maps, but mainly to take advantage of {{GeoGroupTemplate}} However, since I created this I have changed more to using the style as in List of bridges in Cambridge.
The opened date was obtained from the infobox in the article about the stadium. I wasn't bothered what the place was used for before it was in the PL.
What would be useful is a sort that could allow the listing of current, previous and then demolished stadia but still in one list so that it could be seen alphabetically.
I used "stadia" to keep it in line with Ground improvements to football stadia in England, Highest English football stadia by altitude and List of English football stadia by capacity and I didn't see anything giving a preference at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football or WP:MOS but I thought that I had seen something somewhere.
Probably, I never thought of that. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 13:17, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The correct term for the plural of stadium is Stadia (according to the Oxford English Dictionary) Spudgfsh (talk) 17:02, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Capacity[edit]

There should definitely be a column for capacity. I'll try and clear some of the table up if I can be bothered. Torqueing (talk) 19:50, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All done. :) Added capacity for all, notes if it was capacity at closure and notes if they are being redeveloped Torqueing (talk) 20:58, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball Ground[edit]

Derby played the 96-97 season in the Baseball ground, it's last fixture was against arsenal in the premier league. They come under the premier league venues- demolished but not in the main table. needs to be added — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.130.47.43 (talk) 09:47, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was deleted by an anonymous editor a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't noticed until now. Thanks for noticing! Woody (talk) 17:34, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Traditional Stadium Names Vs Sponsored Stadium Names[edit]

On the 2011-12 Premier League and 2012-13 Premier League Pages there is currently a dispute over which names should be used. I see on this page that the traditional name 'St James Park' is being used (at the moment) but it has been changed to that from 'Sports Direct Arena' in the last couple of days. Is there a consensus as to which should be used?

This article has a typo in the header[edit]

The plural of stadium according to the Oxford English Dictionary is Stadia. Can we get the name changed in this article's title or would it have to be a new one that is redirected from here?--Spudgfsh (talk) 20:00, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Since you're invoking the OED, it actually supports "stadiums" in this context:
2. A race-course for foot-racing, originally a stadium in length; hence occas. foot-racing as an exercise. In mod. use often in extended sense, a place for athletic exercises; spec. an enclosed area for sporting events equipped with tiers of seats for spectators. (The pl. stadiums is usual in this sense.)
There is no need to move the page name from the standard plural form. Timrollpickering (talk) 20:42, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
